not to hard to tell, we're in our soaker season. stuck inside bored...but who dont like lookin' at pictures?
not a truck, but it's the Intimidator, built this right after he died. was in the shop noticing how scratched & hazed the case was & how dull & shabby looking his Monte was.
was not thinking, should have took a before. added a little more detail, was able to touch up the black in a few spots, tire decals fell off, hit them with white (hand aint as steady as it used to be...), reset the decals & gave it a new coat of clear

It's all looking great..be glad you're getting rain. We're hoping to get rain, the drought is getting kinda scary. I'm actually taking the Harley for a ride today.

We did get a little rain here and snow at my cabin Friday and Saturday. Every little bit helps. I don't mind at all, I would like that you use it.

Interior looks great and so does the engine and trans. They have a lot of detail to them. I also noticed that the big block has ramhorn marigolds. ..;)

like i said, running low in the parts box & cant get nothing ordered right now, so it was just using what ya got. if my caster hurry's up his reconstruction, i'll order a few sets of these & swap them out

raided my sons "too old too play with" toys & made some dollies from this old tonka

body sure was a pia. it orig had body molding that i had sanded off, but they kept "ghosting" threw the paint, which was why i prob decaled it the first time. they came threw after 6 or 7 sandings, so i sanded a divot down the trim till i KNEW they were gone, then filled in the depression with filler. took the weird vents off the headache rack, same drill as the body....
just painted, still have to detail & clear

what kind of stuff did you usually carry? i also got a fire ext, & a toolbox, & a bunch of chain-too much? not enuff? anything else?
sadly i cant go white stripes & lettering-printer dont print white:dohh: so it will be red with black stripes & lettering (kinda sucks, really wanted white....:waah:)
just slapped my order for everything in, so a bit of a hold....but before they get here, this should be here first....yeah, i got too many projects flipping threw my mind, but these dont come up often anymore (wish they would re-issue!) & i was totally surprised by the price i won it for, & it's one of my fav kits
going to add this shortbox to it to make a longbox...

I carried a floorjack, small trashcan to hold grease sweep a Brooklyn and a square nose shovel.Yep, the rear deck could get cluttered. I edited my last response because I noticed my phone changed dollies to rookies. ......I dont think it's as smart as it thinks...:lol: it's looking great though.

still waiting for my tires & rims for my wrecker, & (surprise, surprise!) it's raining (almost inch & a half), so i decided to start my long box conversion while i'm waiting
making lots of plasti-dust, tonight i will either have a LB or i will have wasted 2 short boxes....

when the wife got home tonite, she was not impressed with me cutting up a new 40 buck model, was going to slap me up the side of my head if i wasted it....dodged a bullet....i think...
lots of cutting & sanding & then more sanding, & then i got a load of sanding ahead of me yet. actually missed the proper length by a 1/16", according to my rmr crew model i'm a bit short...

dont usually like having 2 or more junkers on the go, too easy to lose pieces with my house cleaning....but, rain, rain, & some more rain. we ought to build a pipeline down to you Dale, 60-80mm today (approx 2 1/2") on top of the inch & a half we had yesterday.... :banghead:
at least i dont need to worry 'bout the 'ol lady slappin' me in the head:lol:
a little more finishing bodywork & i'll have me a longbox. need to stretch out the frame & d.shaft now...

I just seen this. I have been doing autocad on the computer and coming up with different things.

The colors on the 64 was close to what I was doing except how was doing the colors. Here is what I was doing. This one is a 66

I'm back, I took off to my cabin for thanksgiving holiday. I'm off the grid up there. I like the way its coming out. The slogan on the hood looks fantastic! The Longbed looks good, what's a 1/16" among friends. LOL

my eyes, they must be going...i never noticed the blobs of super glue on the bottom of the cab, or the bumper hanging down untill i looked at the pictures....

been doing some box work
one problem is the front of it is open (shortbox in the top left) allowing the fenders to bow in & not line up with the cab, as seen on this one i did about 10 yrs ago, which i'll haft to fix now....

so i added a 1/16" front to the box, after i heated the sides & bent them to line up with the cab. almost exactly the length of this chev longbox. also added some styrene around the inner fenders, if you look at the first pic of the box you can see how lame they were...

dont like the way it's lifted, blocks under the spring hangers-cheezy
cut the leaf packs off, will scratch some new ones, diff covers look like nothing i've ever seen, just happened to have 2 D60 covers, & the axles are way narrow, the tires just make it to the body, now they stick out a bit for that bulldog look. all rough right now, lots of sanding & filling to do...

waiting for the body, axles & block to dry (primer & filler), staring at it & decided it needs a canoe. kinda modeled it after an old coleman canoe i had.
only piece of .015 styrene i have, got some nice dents & creases in it, & instead of a scale 14 footer, this piece is only big enuff for a scale 13 ft

it REALLY was easy Dale, just like cutting out snowflakes at school-but....i have now spent about 3 hrs muddin' & sandin" & muddin' & more sanding. like i said, that .015 had a lot of dents & creases in it, once i primed it, it looked like an old aluminum canoe someone beat up with a rock (and it's supposed to resemble a fiberglass canoe....)

we finally caught a break in the weather & have crammed 3 weeks of work into 4 days, so not a lot of progress....untill today, another 2-3 inches of rain:waah:

yeah, it's not a truck, but my 10 yr old son has been working on this for 6 months. he lost the .30 cal gun & the wind kinda went out of his sails for a few months. the other day i made a quick hatch cover to go over the hole, & he's all gung-ho again. last nite he sprayed his first model (first two he brush painted), & he cant wait until tonite to paint the guns, seat boards & install the treads

he built the entire thing, all i did was make a hatch for it & helped him square up all the body pieces, rest of it is all him, even all those stupid little tread rollers.... (i try NOT to help him if i can help it....)

yay! your drought maybe coming to an end Dale? was reading somewhere like how it's been 3 yrs there with hardly anything. which is funny because most of our rain comes up from the south on tropic currents....
with christmas & doing all the fam-damily stuff, my longbox has been kinda simmering lately. off work for a week, so i'd like to try get it cleaned up 'fore the new yr.

was hoping to finish it this weekend, had a primer fiasco....
had enough good stuff to do the box, used some other crap for the cab & hood-big mistake.....top coat kept on cracking & hazing, so i chucked it in the stripping tank.
gave me a chance to fix & replace the drip rails & rear window trim (my eyes, missing all kinds of stuff lately....)

It's looking great, nice job on the bumpers. I've enjoyed watching all your builds this year and looking forward to next year. I hope your holidays went well. I met my oldest daughter, son in law and 4 year old grand daughter at my cabin. I enjoyed watching them play in the snow while I had sat on the porch and stayed warm....
