Re: 61K10 build
thanks again guy's. still have the freeze plug leak after changing it. did not feel any problem on the block surface where the plug fits. maybe a pin hole in the block casting. it just weeps a little bit, a few drops while setting. does not change while running. got to get my interior painted and maybe the outside also.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=425149&page=2 Was a 1960 and maybe a 61 option, but will work on any 60-63 as the glove box doors are the same. Picture is from 1960 Chevy literature. I can check this week and see if I have any more left. I had a couple a while back, know I sold 2 in the forums, but I know there were 1-2 somewhere else in the parts room. |
Re: 61K10 build
i did some research and it might be a 1960 only.

Re: 61K10 build
Dash & gauge cluster looks good!
PS: Any of them wildfires in Southern Cali anywhere near you? |
Re: 61K10 build
Hay Mitch--wondered where you were. No fires here. I am up north between Sacramento and Lake Tahoe. I still have fresh air lol. had to temp the dash stuff so i could post something.
did you ever start a build? |
Re: 61K10 build
That's good to hear, way the news is telling it, the whole state is blazing. lol I've just been hunting and peckin for parts (ie doors & assembly) bought two but not sure they are better than what I already have. We'll see come Sunday, time to start blasting.

Got the interior painted yesterday and the bed liner sprayed on the floor and behind the gas tank. still has some little dents and imperfections that i can live with and of course orange peel. going to try to paint the outside of cab today. hope it's not windy---------
Mitch---good luck with your doors-- |
Re: 61K10 build
WOW! Hope mine will come out half as nice! :metal:

well Guy's it's PAINTED!!! only a few bugs and the normal dirt as i painted out in the open air. would not fit in my paint booth (screened tent) on the trailer, so outside it was.

Re: 61K10 build
I know your glad to get that much more done, Now it's just assembly time. This get's me motivated to work on mine.... Looks Great...
|
Re: 61K10 build
Now that's BLING! My kind anyways. Super job!
Now for the questions for the green horn (me). Any super duper info advice on the painting technique? Like color / brand of primer. And what's that mounting hole in the cab / passenger side for? CB antenna? |
Re: 61K10 build
Randy--A little more time in color sanding and buffing (to get the bugs and orange peel) out before putting all back together.
Mitch--(have somebody else do it) Painting technique lol! Right, as if i know what I'm doing. had a problem with my gun on the 2nd coat. probably caused more orange peel. (you really need a booth) at least it will help. all my paint came from TCP Global out of sand diego ca. probably buy the same stuff from summit racing. I used single stage but the experts say for a beginner to use base coat/clear coat. It's easier to fix your screw ups on the base then clear everything. a lot of info in the paint/body section. yes the hole is for a Cb ant mount. trying to get a windshield lined up with a local shop. |

front grill support had to go in because of the bumper. the radiator support has to be pushed back as far as it will go for the grill support to slip under the bumper. bumper is welded on.
a little color sanding and buffing----------and yes there is still dents lol. If i had to do this tk again i would of bought a rust and dent free tk and used the body parts on the 4x4 frame. this tk was beat to hell. |

Thanks Randy. it's not anywhere perfect (show quality) and if i go to a show, the purest know it all will pick it apart. been through the car-show thing, had this Nomad for 24 yrs and i even drove and parked it just about anywhere.
thanks to you TJ. I am like you, i won't be afraid to hall or put something in the back. have a bunch of chainsaws that i restored, and might build a rack to display them in the bed. need a new tool box also and maybe a headache rack. this is a 60's-70's tk not a 2014. |
Re: 61K10 build
Excellent progress.....it is looking sharp!!

Re: 61K10 build
Kimble, I'm curious as to why you painted the back of the cab black?
|
Re: 61K10 build
WOW!!!! I think its starting to look like a truck again!!!! :metal::metal::metal:
|
Re: 61K10 build
Nice!
|
Re: 61K10 build
Jason---the black is bed liner not paint. the cab was full of rust rockers etc. the back of the cab had a few small holes (rust pits). after blasting we had holes. used all metal filler as the rust was gone, and then epoxy/2k/urethane then bed liner. I really needed a replacement cab. bed liner is inside the cab behind the gas tank and the floor also. It should out live me lol.
TJ--yes i agree thanks Mitch--Randy---the future of your tks----------Kimble |

got a few more things done. wiring almost all back in. (new headlights) pedals in--firewall pad in. (wish you could buy one without all the cutouts) they weren't rubber org right? don't know what i will put on the floor. might just shoot another coat of bed liner and some mats.
found this under my seat padding lol. they did leave 2 little strips of org seat material (custom comfort op.) just going to be gray vinyl to match the visors. need to bleed the brakes and clutch |
Re: 61K10 build
Nice! I'm excited for when I get my wiring kit..lol..New electrical always inspires more confidence. :chevy:
