Well small updates today. I was trying to work on the 70 so I can drive it but the weather is killing me moving trucks around and getting things sorted out after my first swap meet (selling things).
So I decided with the weather Id tear the west coast mirrors apart and redo them. I pulled it all apart and cleaned everything up. Polished them and even though they are F$%d mirrors I think they are going to look real good. Don't ask me why I like them I just do.
Going to grab the hardware today so hopefully I can put them together tonight!
Anyway, enjoy the pics.

Also worked on the new Posi rearend I got from Randy this weekend. (Thanks to Nick aka Nick6266 and his friend Gary for grabbing it for me). I had it blasted for $20 at my favorite place. Looks like the rusted perch will need some love this weekend from the welder. It looked much better before the 135 PIS and 1" orifice got ahold of it. Either way it will be a welcome addition to the 72 GMC. Heres the in progress pics and a closeup of the work ahead for me.
BTW: Have I mentioned Im a serious novice at welding? Bear with me if I don't impress anyone with my welding skills. More to follow but heres what I'm starting with after blasting.

Thanks Dan,
These were the pre-tear down pics, the other pics are not showing all the rust that was transferred to the stainless. It took a lot of elbow and polishing pressure to get them clean. It will look very good after final polishing and assembly. Thinking about using a rock tumbler on the hardware and dying the hardware black for a good contrast. I guess it will depend on the cost of new hardware... stay tuned. LOL

Mike this is really probably a better way to fix this problem... less time and probably about the same kind of money... ECE sells them for 39.00 a pair... They are listed under the Suspension components...

New guy from Wichita! Looking good! I bought my '69 CST/10 from a guy in either Mulvane or Derby (can't remember) back in 2002. I may have to get the number for your buddy that does the POSI work if he does good work for a good price.

Welcome to the board!
He's reasonable compared to some places I've priced. If your on Facebook there is a Wichita C-10 Club as well. Just go check it out. I love this site and so will you. My first suggestion is to read the agreement and sellers code. You will learn A Lot and it's always better to know the rules than to get corrected on them. We are having a dine and drive tomorrow if your available!
Have a good one and enjoy the build thread. I'll add some more pics this weekend.

Thanks, but I have my brakes torn apart right now. I'm just getting started on swapping out my front end for a '71. I hope to have it done by early summer, so I MA hit one up then! Trying to find a good place to get wheels for the time being.

Let me know what rims your looking for and I can maybe help you out! I have several sets of rally's, if that's what you want.
I've done several swaps like that so let me know if you have any issues.

Thanks! I am putting conversion rotors on the '71 spindles so I can keep my 6 lug rally's, but from what I'm reading, they probably won't work with disk brakes. I may be looking for some aftermarket 6 lug chrome wheels. Now, my only question is 18 or 20 inch, and how wide!?

Sorry to thread jack, bud!

Ok so after a short (or long break) selling some parts and clearing out abunch of trucks, I'm ready to get going again on Miss Represented!
Bought this 2015 5.3 with 17K miles and matching tranny!
Sourced a perfect colored drivers fender and will be ordering the harness this week after I talk to the harness company.
I've cleared out 10 trucks since this last post and several truckloads of parts.
I'm ready to have this done and driving!
Thanks for following along.

Well... Good and bad this week.
The good!
I ordered every single part dirty dingo makes for this Gen V motor.
It will be here this weekend!
The bad!
Several people make a harness for this motor but not for this tranny and I really want the 8 speed tranny. Speartech doesn't make it YET! Looks like 2 more months till they have them. If it takes longer than that I may change Trannys.
Time will tell!

I'll transport this truck to my work house this weekend and start the doghouse tear down. Wish me luck and thanks for following along!

It was a friends that found a 6.2 instead. I also think he found out before I did about the harness. LOL

Im being told people are running the blue pumps since it just needs fuel supply since it has the lift pump in the motor (Similar to a diesel) I guess.

Thanks, I've been dragging it out waiting to collect the money for the motor, tranny, accessories and harness. I have everything except the harness either here or on the way. Ill have a lot more updates through the week as I'm at my work house through the week by myself.

I think if I end up changing the cam I may need to change the tranny. I'm reading there is a lot of table time to spend on these tyranny's if you put any extra power in front of them. Ill research it while I wait for a harness manufacturer to produce my needed harness.

Thanks for everyone's comments and keep following along.
Eventually Ill throw down at least a few 295/50/15 or bigger posi marks! LOL

Well today I pulled the front end apart...
I've never parted a truck I could take the entire front sheetmetal apart with a ratchet wrench. I'm serious! I literally took the entire thing apart with out a socket and nothing was seized. I broke them loose and removed them with my fingers for some of them.
This trucks never been apart except the entire doghouse in 1 piece. Grill was no problem either. I'm still amazed. Here is the pic of the rear inner fender to fender area.

So,
I guess I owe a few people an apology and an update...
I've been preparing for a turnaround at the plant and haven't made much headway. thought Id post a few pics of the progress I was able to make so far!
Pic #1 Sanded the casting marks off the valve covers, blasted... painted and reinstalled them.
Pic #2 fabricated some 1" thick aluminum spacers (under the motor mounts) to raise the oil pan off the cross member (there wasn't enough space to make me comfortable!)
Pic #3 Both sides installed and correct bolt lengths switched out ready for the install.
If I was smart I would have found a set of 73-87 BB mounts and achieved the same thing!
Pic #4 This is the Dirt Dingo's Computer mount for the LT Motor! I think it should look pretty cool displayed between the buckets on the sub box!
Pic #5 Here is what I believe is the 05 Corvette water pump, 03 Truck alternator, 01 Camaro power steering pump.
Ill get the A/C compressor from DD when I'm ready for it. Everything is torqued and ready for the next step Mockup of the drive shaft and front end.

Thanks for following along!

I also started mocking up the 16X12 wheels! Here's a few pics.
Ill be mini-tubbing the bed (against my better judgment).
Its only gonna be about 1"-1 1/4" to give me a little clearance on the tires.
I hope it looks like I envision it to be in my head!
Its sitting on the jack stands at ride height (or close to it) for these pics.
Now its on the rolling dollies with a few board for bracing!

Ill pull the bed off and cringe while I cut the 1-1 1/4" out of a perfect bed that has 27K miles on it. LOL I'm hiding the floor narrowing with the tub extensions... under the lip of the wheel tub and then will add in the section between the bolts on the bed floor so it cant be seen. Ill post a lot of pictures of the surgery when I do it.
I plan to get the bed off after this week when we get the plant back up and online at work. Then I can get a few people to come over and put the bed on my dolly...
More to follow, thanks for hanging out with me!

Jumping around a little on the truck as time and money supports it!
I'm adding 1.5" to the wheel tubs and cutting the floor the same.
I think I'll be able to make both tubs with only using one additional tub.
I'll post some as I go pics of the cutting on each piece as it goes under the knife!

More cutting this week. I'm cutting an extra 1.5" more than needed from the doner inner fender so I can cut what is needed on the other side in one piece. This allows for only one seam to get welded... saving me 3' of welding per side.
Here's the pics and thanks for following along!
