Are you going to put a playing card in the tire spokes to make an engine noise?

ha ha, that is so my wife, I can't stand cameras on cars, I am actually trying to do the opposite and quiet down the Lexus external electric transmission fluid pump (only running at 50% speed) as well as the Tesla Model S electric water pump (only running at 25% speed to keep the noise down)

both use PWM for control and I can't even spell it let alone know how it works [ahem] under the hood

so got some numbers for you all after the first attempt at a Range Test, I say first attempt cause I did do some dumb things like try to get it up to 75 miles an hour for no reason on streets not freeways

so I ran out of juice after only 20.5 miles, but before you take that to the bank, we were NOT fully charged to begin with (maybe only up to 370 volts I forget, and fully charged is 398) and I only have one of the two battery packs that I own installed at the minute

People Just Don't Drive That Much No More

not sure where I read this and I should find the link for you, regardless please see if you agree or disagree because I find this interesting and so may you

prior to the C word that closed the world down for 2 years the "average" American drove only an average of 40 miles per day, again stressing the word "average" here as I am fully aware many folks live in rural areas and have to drive 40 miles one way just to get to Piggly Wiggly's yes it's a thang

post the pan dem ic the "average" American now only drives about 21 miles per day, think about it, as you pick up yet another AMAZON package off your front porch, and now with every thing from batteries to a deodorant stick being behind glass doors at Target who want's to go physically shopping at a brick and mortar any more? The convenience is gone!

so now that we can achieve 88 miles per hour it's about time we strap in, so out with the ol's aftermarket lap belts and in with the MoPar three point harnesseseses out of a 2000 Dodge Ram van

so the first thing I needed to do is to liberate the stock bracket from the belt drum to give ourselves some wiggle room

I dunked the cloth belt into some ice water so when I gave the metal some heat it wouldn't go up in flames, seemed to have worked

first I needed to take out all the factory bends and flatten these brackets out so that we could put a nice 90°(ish) bend in them ourselves

the female sides needed an extension so here's how I handled that, these whatevers with the two loops worked great, except I needed two sets of them as one of them loops is reverse thread and it was useless to me

I can't find the pictures from the junk yard of how these was mounted in that Dodge van, but from what I recall it was rather peculiar in the sense that these are not symmetrical or asymmetrical in other words mirror copies of each other, they both seem to be identical and either can be left or right, passenger or driver

in the van one was mounted to the B pillar and the other to the seat, very strange

anywho, this means that we had to pull out the Uno Reverse Card on one of them (the driver side, so a bit more fandangling) which explains why we drill out them rivets

I luv these mirrors

I ran these same mirrors but found out they vibrate in the wind. LMC truck sells a support plate that goes on the inside of the door to help with this. Have yet to test but I think the factory included this on small mirror trucks.

Doc & Kim, lol the rubber band, I have not even tried to take it apart, so if I can't find a good used replacement for mine I plan on getting a brand new one from GMCPauls Truck Parts

Range Test #2 - just over 30 miles

this time I charged up to 389 volts, still not even 90% but we nearly hit the coveted 3.5 miles per killer watt, so this was all city streets and residential, no freeway driving, but no babying it either, and no hyeprmiling or any of that Prius jazz, ha ha

interesting observation, seems like the volts drop very steadily as you drive until they hit 300, then you best get home right quick cause from 300 down to 270 and kaput goes by in a blink of an eye seems like

so I noticed the truck has two different style outside door handles, and from what I gathered so far I do not mean the different '67 slant on one and not the other, no none of mine are from '67

so first here is the driver side one from an unknown year, dirty then all cleaned up

Re: My Dusty 71 GMCe Electruck

one of year unknown came with the driver side replacement door and has sort of pressed in plate in it held in place with 4 little tabs

the passenger door came with the '71 cab and I am fairly sure it is a '71 door so it has a bit different design, it has a wrap around plate with two little screws holding it in (it's still the rusty one in the pics)

I really don't care, but I just like to learn stuff, so I am wondering if the part numbers run all the way through all the 6 years of this majestic generation 67-72 or if there is some sort of divide / cut off

Drive Side Outside Door Handle Part # 3927897

I did manage to find this thread: NOS outside door handles - total of 4 with more pics and part numbers

1. they would look like plane or primer

2. they would rust ?
