Well a few things got done today, but also still have fitment issues.

All finished with the radiator set-up. Mark and I installed the front clip, and found that we still can't clear the ac tensioner, it's hitting the inner fender.

We had clearance it a little, but still hitting, so off it comes tomorrow and do some more work.

Here's a better pic of the gauges, and also with the front end on (not a good pic)...Jim

That paint looks like smoothly flowing, molten glass. It's absolutely gorgeous.

Awesome work!

Do you know what the condenser is from or is it part of a kit?

Gauges look great Jim. I had a similar issue with my radiator. I cut the welds that attached the bracket and moved them to where I needed them then had a friend weld the aluminum brackets back in place.

With fitment, you don't know what you don't know.

Your gaining.

Marc

Thanks Marc...Jim

Well not a good day today. Mark and I removed the front clip, did some more relief in the inner fender and tried to install the front clip again. Was still way to tight. So I said let's cut out the sheet metal and make a new piece that will clear the AC compressor clutch and the belt tensioner.

Man I hated to do that, but had to.

pic 1 is looking at the metal cut away, and template made.
Pic 2 is looking straight down, so you can see how much clearance was needed.
Pic 3 is the ac stuff.

Should have known everything was going to smooth to last:lol::lol:..Jim

Ya feels like you are going backwards sometimes.

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build

That's a bummer, but I'll bet you will be happier when it fits the next time with the cut out looking very custom!

once it is welded in and painted, it will look as good as the 'inserts' that were made for the upper control arm adjusters. (very nicely done)

After Mark did all the metal work, we installed the front clip again, to double check clearance. The next 3 pics aren't very good, but we have great clearance around the ac clutch and tensioner...Jim

Thanks guys for the comments, Robert I see you asked Chris (Skymags) about his AC bracket, mine is also ICT billet they make a lot for the truck engines. I got mine to clear my coil covers, just didn't know it would kick out that far...Jim

Hey Guys, I take full blame for the goof up on the A/C mount.
That mount is very nice however it is wide and would be better suited for a C-10.

That being said I used the Kwik Performance kit Item# K10291 $227 it brings it up higher and tighter (preventing cutting the inner fender)

Well here's todays update. Mark sanded the filler down and sprayed the primer.
I sanded down the primer with guide coat.
After the final sanding Mark sprayed the teal paint. Will let this dry till Monday, then wet sand with 600 and paint again.

Here's some pics...Jim

Little update. On Sunday Mark wet sanded the inner fender with 600 paper and resprayed the teal paint.

This morning he wet sanded with 2500 to 3500 and buffed out the paint, it looks great (1st pic).

Then we installed the front clip for the final time. Bolted everything back, hooked up wire to all the lights, heater hoses, and misc. items. Still waiting parts but getting real close to fire it up...Jim

Thanks everyone for the kind words. In this case all the work was done by Mark, all I did was sand some primer. We still work as a team, but my part is smaller now...Jim

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build

Great day today. After a few small items taken care of we started the engine.
Fired up right away and sounded great. Only ran for a little while, still waiting parts to finish up the radiator hoses, etc. I still need to run power to the elec. fan, then make up new hoses for the AC.

Didn't receive my shifter yesterday, called today and they said it will ship 12/15, hope so...Jim

congratulations on the progress

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build

Finished up all the wiring today, including fan. Filled trans with fluid, started the engine, Mark put it in gear and let it fill up the valve body, etc.. Got new AC lines cut to length, but waiting for more parts. Installed wheels and its back on the ground. Good day...Jim
