Re: Project Vitamin C-10
Called the lumber place they want $5.75/bdft for babinga (sp) and $2.10/bdft for red oak.
Spread some filler today. I put the wheel tub in too stabilize the panels. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC01810.jpg I will be putting a gusset of some kind in this area. It looks like a good place for a crack to form. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC01811.jpg |

Is there any wood that has a natural orange tint? That might look nice against the paint. |

here is some wonderful figured bubinga but you may choke at the price I just a batch of african padauck that was really on the orange side. i can send you a pic of the colour. I am building a 16' dining table for a customer out of muninga(which he brought from africa a little over 30 years ago). there was only enough for the top and none avail in n/a and it is a member of the padauk family so that is what I turned to for the base. normally afr. padauk is a pretty strong red but I was looking for some that was lighter in colour and my siuplier in Ontario had a flitch cut log that was orange whuch in time will almost fade into what I want ron |

I feel ya Bugeye. I've been catching up on threads for the past month. Had a job selling ice cream the past year and half, 80 hour weeks in nebraska all week. Had enough and opened shop back up the first of October. My girlfriend says I'm addicted to this forum! She also wonders why I have those "junk" pickups, I tell her those are my retirement projects.......someday. Great build Alan. Was gonna start on my 68 first but liking yours so might start with my 64 short fleet.

This is what I will be spraying in my rocker to prevent rust. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...b/DSC01812.jpg This is the spray nozzle for it. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...b/DSC01813.jpg It has a 360* spray pattern. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...b/DSC01814.jpg Started working on my neighbor Shannon's truck. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...b/DSC01812.jpg Thats it! Thanks alan! Ive been looking for something to spray the inside of my rockers after I welded them in. I used a weld thru primer from 3M, but was unsure of the outcome. The extension with that spray is ideal! |

The blaster does awesome work. He even shrink wraps the parts to keep fingure prints off while handling. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC01829.jpg http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC01830.jpg Spraying DP90. I just put a light coat on because I didn't have much left. It will be good enough to keep the surface rust from forming. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC01841.jpg http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC01843.jpg http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC01837.jpg The hood latch looks brand new. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC01846.jpg |

Your thread inspired me to go work on my truck the other week, though its pretty slow going with me and mine isn't quite as old or planned to be as nice I love what you're doing.
On a side note, from one to another, thank you for your service and Happy Veterans Day. |

I disected my old hood for parts. I will be using some of it for patches. Now the choice is should I just replace the complete reinforcement or just patch it. I drilled most, but had to grind the rest of the spot welds on the rear reinforcement. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC01876.jpg http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC01877.jpg There is 4 spot welds along the edge in the middle. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC01879.jpg Once the spot welds were broken loose I used a block of wood and hammer to slide it out of the folded lip. I could have ground the whole edge and split it that way, but this was easier. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC01880.jpg |
Re: Project Vitamin C-10
should have used a bigger hammer Alan.

Re: Project Vitamin C-10
Me and Sdailey went to Moultrie. We had a great time. I didn't get what I went for because no body brought any brake lines or aluminum fuel tanks. I was bummed. We walked from 8-5 Saturday and still didn't see all of it. We walked to the car show, but decided to keep lookin' for parts. I believe there were over 1300 cars in the show. We went back this morning but a lot of people had packed up due to weather. Even Truck and car shop was gone. I was bummed again because I had some small items I was going to get from them. On the way home we stopped at Summit, and walked out empty handed. I was looking at their aluminum radiator and electric fan assy, but I need brake lines and fuel tank first.
I did like this http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...9/DSC01906.jpg Went to Tim Christians booth and hooked up on some parts http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...9/DSC01908.jpg Most of this came from him except the AC fittings (nostalgic air) and the impala glove box lock and rubber bumpers. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...9/DSC01909.jpg http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...9/DSC01916.jpg I knew my AC condenser would be too big (that's the way it came when I bought it off someone else) I'm hoping when Sdailey buys his kit he can get a condenser for my truck and he can have this one. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...9/DSC01913.jpg http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...9/DSC01914.jpg Also picked up a crimper for making AC hoses. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...9/DSC01915.jpg Started working on the other bedside. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC01895.jpg This is the front brace design I came up with it is simple, but effective. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...d/DSC01888.jpg |
