Thanks Jeff!!!:metal: it is going to look very sweet. and look "finished" with the contrast between the body color and undercoating on the inside. thanks for looking!!

Atta boy Dennis

You can spray it too, it comes in an aersol can, you'll need less than one full can for both fenders and hood. Might save you a few bucks, who knows.

If it's like most (not all) of them, he'll get to it when he's darn good and ready. Seems like every time someone is waiting on something to get there project going, it's the darn painter.

That's the truth! Nothing against painters, but it does seem to be that way.

well not much of a picture update but i did manage to get the stainless brake lines installed and i got the brakes bled... sorta. spent 5-6 hours bleeding the damn things yesterday. tried every trick i know. even used the vacuum pump. there is still some air in the lines but i do have a pedal though!:metal: i also fired her up and put er in reverse and then drive!:D hopefully next weekend i'll have the battery tray from the painter so i can mount the battery and maybe roll her down the street.

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)

Did you adjust the rear calipers? They do use the actuated style rear parking brake caliper...right? If they do, the parking brake has to be adjusted, or you will have a terrible feeling pedal. Try pinching off the "drop line" from the frame to the rearend and see if the pedal isn't better. If it gets firm, then the rear calipers still need adjustment. This was the issue I ran into with the McGaughy rear brake kit...

Hope that helps.

Ed

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)

yeah we were gonna smell paint next week, until some dipsh*t came through the parking lot slinging mud and gravel. Got little dings I gotta fix all on the truck now. back when i did bodywork when I was young paint smells is the reason I quit. Couldnt stand it. had a grandfather and two uncles affected by paint fumes. maybe it's time like they do on tv. if you can't get the job done in time, time for a new painter.:lol::lol:

Jonboy 11-01-2010 12:06 AM

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)

I did just the opposite. I like the fumes. When I figured out you could get a buzz and get paid, I was hooked. That was over 20 years ago now. Every so often I will catch a whiff of something that smells like old school catalyzed enamel, and it will take me back a little bit. Now I just sit in an office on the other side of the wall from the fumes.

oh i had friends growing up that used to do the kmart gold thing. you know, a rag and a bread sack, and hallucinate their blank off. I tried it a couple of times. but there were some things that i liked better as i was sitting there on that sack of seeds:smoke::smoke::smoke:
