Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
Here is my 76 when it had the 383 in it. I'm almost finished with the New 408 sbc It has Crappy heads for now, which will be replaced with AFR's and An Entire Roller Valvetrain... But for now... it is what it is.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
Here's mine. It's super dirty since we live on a dirty/dusty farm road. I still need to get the hood painted aswell as the front bumper. The lights on the grille will be behind the grille soon. I'm also planning to lower the front an inch or two after I fix the body alignment.
http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...h_100_0125.jpg My wife and my inlaws say they actually like the white hood(it makes the truck stand out from the other two similar trucks in town), but I think it'll look more "complete" with the hood painted to match. |
Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
Truck looks good. Yeah the white hood is different, but I'm with you it will look better when it's painted.

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
Nice work on the dash...pretty creative.
|
Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
looks good i was looking intoo running 2 screens in the dash behind the steeringwheel instead of the analog gauges making it look like the cockpit of a modern airplane running virtual gauges on them the radio/cdplayer and navigation through touchscreen
sofar i couldnt find a program to create that dash in realtime would be neat though having a smoked plexiglas front that lights up like a screen as soon as you make contact the nice thing of that setup is that you could change the placing and the skins of the dash to suit youre needs the speedo could run of the navigation the gas would be a ampmeter volt meter would be a voltage meter rev counter schould be some kind of pulsecounter clock would be simple and so would blinkerindictor lights and oilpressure warning most of the hardwhare exist and they use these type of dashboards with aftermarked electronic fuelinjectionsystems and modern dynomometers but running of desktops i would need it running of a PDA type of device (without crashing harddisk) |
Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
that would be pretty cool i was looking into the ones that projuct onto the windshild but no luck so im just going to try something with the stock setup
|
Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
Didn't pontiac have one like that ..... projection onto the windshield? That would be the tits.
Good luck. ratty 46 |
Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
think it was corvette that had it
|
Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
The concept of virtual gauges sounds great, but most people who have those setups do so in newer cars and tap into a software that can translate the OBDII. Even still, I think you can pull it off doing what you described. Another though would be to try and achieve the cockpit look with one of the universal kits from Dakota Digital...
http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.c...=cat/cat69.htm ...and then you could use this for indicator and shift lights... http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.c...prod/prd62.htm |
Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
The Pontiac GD had it in the early 200s

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
thanks guys, man, i tried putting my roll pan on at work just now, and it did not fit!! i have to cut it down on the sides about an 1/8'' and the liscense plate housing hits the bed. my brother primered it for me so i cant send it back. i should be able to fix it up though.
|
Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
where did you get your rollpan? Most rollpans with the license plate box u hav to cut away at the bed to fit it in.

This is my Dad's 1984 Chevy C-10 that we bought off a board member (locab 36) about 3 years ago. We have put new rockers, cab corners, hood, fenders, doors and updated the core support to an 89-91 style. We also pulled the 305 and replaced it with a fresh 350 with ceramic headers and new duel 2 1/2" exhaust. It has a fresh patriot red paint. All the above work was done by my dad and me.
Update: New 20" Foose wheels all the way around!!! |

Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
why do those hoods always kink like that
|
Re: How about some pics of '73-'87 Short Beds
from not oiling up the hinges, they rust up and when you go to close them they fold over like a newspaper
