Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Thanks guys, your compliments are greatly appreciated.
On a side note I just redid my brake and fuel lines (currently doing fuel lines) with Nicopp tubing. I have to tell you I love that stuff. For anyone that needs to do their brake lines are run a hard lines for fuel, trans, etc. consider using it. Its very easy to work with. |
Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Well the guys that know me know that I just can’t leave well enough alone. I had to go out and by the new fleetside bedsides.lol
https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4761/2...b5107991_b.jpg First order of business was to smooth the seams and stake pockets. https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4653/3...98dc5360_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4618/3...a0c192a5_b.jpg Here is a pic of the fleetside bed mocked up. https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4671/2...e74605c7_b.jpg I also installed the hidden tailgate latches I had from the step side. https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4671/3...3c484185_b.jpg This now how I’m raising the bed floor. https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4764/3...bd3e90d4_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4742/3...0a77b7fb_b.jpg |

I’m glad I’ve got a rock solid longbed, but how is the quality of those bedsides? I have read different opinions on the web... They look good tho! |

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
thats looking pretty sweet Bam. nice to see you back at it. whaddya gonna do with the old box, put another truck under it, build a couch or bbq for the back deck, haha
just curious if it is the angle of the pic but it kinda looks like you may have interference issues with the diff when it goes to bottom out. I am sure it is the pic though, your stuff is always engineered for worst case scenario. looking awesome, thanks for posting some pics, maybe get me motivated. |

I do have to widen the tubs due to my narrow rearend other than that all is well. I was really worried that the bedsides would hit the tires but I have a nice clearance. I got too happy and went to fit the tubs and no way. I widened them 2 inches I'm just finishing up the welding and metal finish. The old bed went to my buddy Donnie (57 with jag front and rear build posted here). I also gave him the rear fenders and steps. I have to get rid of some stuff and make room and keep the wife happy. |
Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
ha ha, thats a good one, get rid of some stuff. I have a bunch of stuff stored at a daughters garage. wife knows there is some stuff but no way she knows how much, lol.
trying to consolidate a few things myself so less mess seen out the kitchen window. working on getting the box on the frame and building mounts. then get the floor jacked up to clear the frame bump. did you use a steel trailer fender for the inner edge of the tub? |

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Due to my narrowed rearend I had to widen the new wheel tubs for the fleetside bed. I had some sheet metal laying around that I cut into long 2 inch wide stripes.

I will post another pic of them as soon as I finish the welding and metal finishing. |
Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Looks good, as always.

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
The truck is moving along slowly, but its moving along.
First a mod I did to the inner fenders. I welded up one of the valleys in the inner fender to use a s a wire loom for the electrical wire going to the front of the truck. https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/946/40...d70296d5_b.jpg Here is the other side that will hold the wires. https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/823/41...27496e8c_b.jpg Filler, primer, block sanded, and painted https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/977/40...ab27f363_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/827/27...35ceb243_b.jpg Front Fenders https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/909/28...acfd636e_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/967/27...e7b4dc70_c.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/906/28...62621fa1_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/974/41...e3b50a26_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/962/27...79b7013e_b.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/978/28...238964f8_b.jpg New Radiator https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/956/41...59c2f2c1_b.jpg |

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Hi Bam!
As usual, your work looks great, well thought out and pro performed. Question: Have you had any issue making the paint match when you paint at different times due to...I don't know, humidity, drying times, etc? Once again, the truck is looking SO good! |

Great color and the right shade
If you were going to but an accent/pinstripe what color(s) would you chose? |

My painter painted my interior and interior steps before later painting the entire exterior. There is a very slight - but unacceptable to me - color difference just on the strip below the doors. He will repaint that and the difference from interior to exterior is so slight you can't see it UNLESS it's directly adjacent like that area. He says it al came from the same but I suspect it's like you are saying. two gallons that were not co-mixed before using. |
