Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
Is it just me or is there something wrong with the way the steering box is mounted, looks like its not flat with the frame ??

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
I moved things around day, and got the rest of the 65 in the shop. I tried on the new wheels to see how they looked. Guess what??? They aren't 5x4.75 bolt pattern. They came off an S-10 so I thought they should fit. I guess 73 Chevy trucks with 5 lug have a 5" bolt pattern. :uhmk:
So the Cragers are staying, and now the new wheels are for sale with the Centerlines. They are both 5x4.75 wheels. Any takers? |

Your good. I welded a thick spacer to go where the bolt goes through to keep the steering shaft on the box as close to the center of the firewall mount. It was an after thought. But it's really strong as it still has the tubes inside the frame so it doesn't squeeze together when tightened. Here's a view from the top. It's really tight and I had to adjust it. Before I paint it I'll clean it up., and make it look better. http://belair.smugmug.com/Cars/Kusto...37_hNhWS-L.jpg |

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
I did some clean up in the shop. Since I'm done with the 62 Impala frame, and still waiting for the body to get back from the VERY slow body shop. I put the frame outside, and bagged it with plastic, and 2 car covers. Then I put my truck back in the shop so I can do more work on the frame.

mines on wheels also. I should have put bigger wheels on it so I can Slide my engine hoist under it better. Next time.;) Think the six lug wheels of my 64 would fit the 6 lugs on my 52? They should be the same huh.?

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
maibe you can get some one to lend you an old set with bigger offroad tires until the cab is placed , would make it eazier to work under the car as whell they dont even need to be roadlegal just able to hold air
