Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
BTW.... you will probably want to use these instead (the gold one on the right):
http://www.purechoicemotorsports.com...rod/prd255.htm http://www.purechoicemotorsports.com...prd_zm_255.jpg I found this on LS1tech.com when I was planning mine and bookmarked it: Quote:
Sounds like if you remove the OEM rear fitting and just replace it with a 1/4 pipe fitting, it might not get the fluid to the circuit correctly. That would be bad! I would at least call someone like TCI or a reputable local shop to verify this. |
Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
Oops, actually these instead. This is for the pair:

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
Phew!!!
|
Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
From what I've found no-one makes the fitting with the extension in the rear fitting. I am just going to use the factory quick connect lines and cut them off about 6 inches from where they go in the trans. Then break out my handy flaring tool and flare the lines and use high psi. rubber hose to run the lines to the cooler.
|
Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
The ones I posted lets you use -6 AN fittings/hose with the OEM fittings. I totally forgot about them until I saw this thread and Dennis's other thread asking about fittings. I wish I had remembered them now, it would have made things easier without that extra step to remove the hard lines and flare them.

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
O- I see now. Those will be pretty handy then. But, since I already cut mine and bought all the 3/8 high psi. hose I guess I'll just stick with it. Story of my life, always behind the ball...
|
Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
LOL, I just found out I was behind the ball too, even though it seems as though I was in front of it at one point. Must of got run over by it!

Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
:haha: you guys are too much! i hope it works out this way... ive been measuring and i think the exhaust is going to be too close to the lines if i go straight to the frame rail. i might need 2 90*'s... there's another $30:m6:
|
Re: Finally "Silvers" build thread!! ('78 swb 2wd silverado)
Well that should only be about 1/1000 of your total truck budget huh?

5 Attachment(s)
almost ready to fire!!
so today i replaced all the zip-tied fuel lines with actual clamps, installed new knock sensors, knock sensor harness, tranny filter, oil filter and new tranny pan. i also plugged off the throttle body steam ports and that extra port on the power steering pump. my harness was finally shipped today and the steel braided line and -an fittings will be here tomorrow for the tranny cooler lines. all i need to do is install the harness, cooler lines, and fill everything with fluid!!!:metal: |
