Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Orrie, Maybe I missed it but what's the purpose of the LED's in the ignition hole? Are there others somewhere else?

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Many (all?) "chrome reverse" & baby moons areChinese made so I wonder how good the chrome is? That said, if I bought some I'd coat the backside with Gibbs oil immediately and wax the front religiously.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
I just picked this ’57 Panel up last August. I have done several small improvements, but it basically it was ready to drive when I bought it. It is a sweet ride and my buddies and even my wife likes riding in it.
This is my shop truck and I use it for deliveries, which can sometimes be over 150-miles round trip. My plan was to make it into a “silent salesman”, since everyone looks at it as I drive by, by applying signage. Simple plan except I had no idea how to cut vinyl signs. I bought a used cutter, some software and material and just got it done over the weekend. Eventually, the body will get pimped out. Meanwhile, it doesn’t hurt to practice putting stickers on it. http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f2...g?t=1366681959 http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f2...g?t=1366595646 |

Agreed. What better way than advertising on a car that people will stare at. I like your thinking.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
I always guessed a 78 Chevy pickup?
The previous owner had this built for his 16-year old daughter to drive, in CA, and these give a bit of side marker light-effect, for safety. I am just getting used to them. At first I thought "WTF?". :-) https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/i...Pjv0bckF98n5Iw |

I agree you should focus on "more important things" but (in my opinion) that doesn't mean you have to forget about your passion for cars or trucks. My unsolicited advice to you - admittedly the worst kind - is to get as good a job as you can that let's you pursue your education. Then STUDY!! and SAVE!! If you can only do one? STUDY, STUDY, STUDY. Keep monitoring this and other forums soaking up knowledge about common problems with the vehicles you're interested in/the way to solve them. When the time is right, go shopping. There's nothing more frustrating than buying a project vehicle and having no money to work on it. Remember, if you have money you have options. No money? No options. Best of luck!! |
Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Thanks Dan for your Advice..College,Jobs is the most important thing right now

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
P.S. Study something that will lead to a high paying career! My idea is if you've GOTTA work your whole life anyway, it may as well be at something that pays you the most you can get. What's that? You wanna "be happy"? You'll be happier making more money than less money!
(I wish someone had made me see this clearly right after high school) |

I have been thrashing on my interior trying to get it back together for a car show on the May 6th. This is my first attempt at an interior.
I just need to reassemble. Oh and clean the 3" of dust off my dash. Marc |

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
Since my bed on my 47 is all apart I took the sides to the local blaster to remove all the old finish and rust. 150.00 to strip both of them. I couldn't do half as good a job with a grinder and sandpaper and I can now work on something else while they do it.I would have spent days getting it done myself.

Re: What Did You Do With Your Truck Today ?
I made a front shock (driver side) mount that allowed me to put a spring on the shock. I used 5" x 3" x 1/4" angle iron 7" long and bolted it to the front axle U clamp that hold the leaf springs to the axle. I removed the old shock mount and put it with the spare parts.
My test drive shows that springs on the front shocks really steady up the front end on a straight axle and help with the weight load of the 454ci. |
