Murdoc that is a sweet find. You gotta love a big back window short fleet.

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
Hey Murdoc Nice truck.. That picture must have been taken on Industrial Rd in Nampa if that is the Crooks steel sign. Good to see another local truck!!

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
thanks kevin and bubba for the compliments
Bubba, your absolutely right about the location. I work at microclean which is on industrial rd, right across from crooks steel. I have been admiring your posts on your truck here on the forum, id love to see it in person sometime. we live so close it would be a sin not to!! |

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
Hey Murdoc,
I noticed that you have at least one really rare and hard to find option. The cast step side inserts. Those are on the rare side and if in good condition they go for a pretty penny. I have not decided to add the 2 that I have to my fleetside, scared to cut into the bed sides. At first I think they were after market but then I saw where they were added to the Chevy options catalog, I think after 63ish? I've never seen them offered in a GMC options catalog. Jake Jake |

NF65fleetside,
They seemed to be a westcoast option or even midwest, becausue a lot of the truck were used heavily in farming, which makes sense. I'll assume they came chromed from the factory (which makes since as a trim option) IF I use mine I'll need to get them chromed. But I weight about 250 dressed out, so even if I install them, I would be afraid to use them, I would at least put another fender brace under neither the sidewall incase. Here are pictures of mine. |

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
the steps will hold you dont worry.. im about the same and i have them on mine.. both of mine are bare. no paint or chrome

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
I second that. The steps are mounted in a perfect position, just under the fender brace, making them quite rigid and sturdy. i weight 200 and they dont even flex when i hop on them.
I have em on each side, and although i personally would never have mounted them myself, as large a farming community as idaho is, i can see the reason why they were added. they are priceless for those whose trucks are work trucks. |
Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
mines not a work truck but i think im going to keep them just for conversation. i also have a cow pusher front bumper

Re: How about some pics of 60-66 Trucks
1st post! Here's a picture of my project that I just pulled out of the pasture over the weekend. The last registration was 1981. My father bought this truck back in the early 70's and was the first vehicle I learned to drive. I'm really looking forward to getting this truck back on the road. This site is great and I've really learned a lot reading through all the post and build threads. Hopefully, I'll get a thread going soon in the project section and will certainly be reaching out for advice on this build.
