i've seen a verry nice kit a while back it was a cage with a tank a compressor the valves and the switches allready installed inside a plastic cover in only needed a 12v hookup and all the lines to the 4 corners http://www.dreamershotrods.com/image...oductId=367425
they call it the airpod

Re: Daverods project 66

I looked at that one. I already had my tank and compressors though. I liked the idea of a big tank and dual compressors. ;)

I haven't messed with it yet. I'll try to get on it this coming week. Been busy with the house. and I'm not ready to work on the bag set up.

Been dealing with the VA. I finally got my rating lastnight. I got a bunch of appts. and this is my DD.

Did some rattle can on my arms. Got the joints press in. Put it all back together. Found a bigger sway bar in my garage so I replace the one I had. Waiting on my front and rear shocks. Also got the shock relocating stuff.

What kind of front air bag set up are you using? The lower bag mount will screw up that nice paint. :uhmk:

Re: Daverods project 66

For now I'm just going with the hacked springs. Later I'll get lowered spindles and shorty exhaust. It's pretty low now with the spindles it will drag my exhaust. The paint cost about $5 and took about 5min. Now the cleaning is a different story.

Re: Daverods project 66

Cleaning is everything. I spent over a week cleaning the 57 Sedan Delivery I'm working on. I did the front part of the frame, and suspension. It was a mess. Then I made more of a mess with the sand blaster.

What kind of paint did you use on that?

Re: Daverods project 66

been to a factory in germany once from mahle
the productionrun was for mercedes pistons and they each had the little logo stamped into them
after that they did a run for imitation/aftermarket pistons .......... they took out the logostamp and continued production
for some stuff you only pay extra for the logo

Any one know how to sharpen those unibits?

daverod 01-12-2011 11:22 AM

Re: Daverods project 66

Why sharpen them . Just keep your reciept and go get a new one. I broke the first one I had. They are brittle. I just returned it. Guaranteed for life.:metal:

Strodder 01-12-2011 11:37 AM

Re: Daverods project 66

I didn't know that. Where did you buy them?

daverod 01-12-2011 03:25 PM

Re: Daverods project 66

hf. Harbor freight.;) Keep your reciept for anything you buy there though.

KEWL. That's my favorite place. :metal:

watahyahknow 01-12-2011 05:42 PM

Re: Daverods project 66

if you dont have the receipt just buy the exact same thing again walk out and back in again with the busted part and if they ask tell them it fell apart within a second
you then have two new ones ...... if you lost the reciept you had to buy the part again anyway
done that a few times when i was low on cash on stuff like electric heaters , works good if you lost the original box to return it in as whell

You need to take a look at your Avatar.

Those unibits do suck though. I bought the 3pc kit. and broke all 3 drilling through my frame. didn't know I could take them back.

Are you a insider club member, if not You need to get in on it. Cost I think $25 and you can save a lot of money. Some stuff goes 50%-70% just for being a member.

Re: Daverods project 66

I get in A LOT of trouble at HF. I start in shopping and pretty quick I have a cart or two full of stuff I cannot live without.
I live probably 25 miles away from the store and since I do not get on that side of town that often, I tend to stock up on essentials when I am there.

Mainly stuff like grinder discs and cut-off wheels and wire brushes, air tools and pretty quick I am in deep dept again.
Much Safer if I do not go too often.:chevy:

I hope your not expecting fast bags using 1/4" air lines? What size valves are you using?

3/8";) I've had it hooked up to my air compressor in my garage. It goes up pretty fast. I heard 1/2 was to much. You can adjust how fast or slow on the accair switch control. I think I'll switch my tank around so all the holes/plugs are in front. Might look better. Tried to hide all the parts, so thet don't walk off. I think I'll build a old looking box to cover it all.

Strodder 01-14-2011 10:41 AM

Re: Daverods project 66

I'm going to use 1/2" because that's what I have left over from the shop I closed. I already have 2 air bags, 1 compressor, all the fittings, 8 SMC valves, air lines, and tanks. All I need is one more compressor, and 2 bags. I even have a custom made chrome triangle 4 link, and all the front bag brackets, and gauges. Damn, I need to get that truck put together. :uhmk:
