Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
yeah, I know. you spend more time figuring out the best way to do something than you do actually accomplishing the job sometimes. you just don't wanna forget something or engineer something that you think will work but then interferes with something else or looks poor. you seem to have that part figured out though.

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Well I finished blending the paint on the firewall after the steering column mount fab work. It came out nice, you can't tell that I cut into that paint.

Looks great, Bam.
How far out from the new work does the blend start? I see no indication of any work at all. |
Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Ya, great work. This is my first time seeing your build. I like it, great build.

Let me try to explain. First its very important that you block the repaired area to the point that the edges of the repair are milky or blending into the non repaired area. If you can feel the transition with a finger nail that is to much and the repair will show when done. After that I scuffed the whole fire wall on that side to about the center of the truck with 800 grit. I then back taped and masked off the top lip of the firewall and the center of the truck. Color is about 3 inches past this primed area after three coats. So first 1 inch, 2nd coat 2inch and 3rd another inch. Than I cleared the whole masked of area. Quote:

With the column mod finished, I installed the steering column and I have to say I like it much better than the ididit swivel ball I had in place before. Less busy and a smoother look in my opinion. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4911/...4c456087_c.jpg |

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
BAM, that looks great. I like the boost terminals discretely hiding out, I am using those same ones under my hood as well.
what kind of air filter is that? never seen one with that checkerboard look before. cool. do you plan to cover the intake with something from your box of tricks? can't wait to see how that looks if you plan that. you always come up with something new and cool. |

Bam,
Loving everything I see. What are your plans for the valve covers/coil covers and possibly(?) an engine cover? Do you think she'll be ready to drive to the Brothers Show next summer? |

Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
This is a great build. I have a question what did you use for your stake pocket fuel filler. I would like to put something in the rear deck in a suburban. It doesn't look like what you use is really deep. thanks and keep up the good work
|
Re: Kabwe's aka Bam's build
Hiding the loom came out real nice.

I've been trying to think of a way to build a air box to have the coolest air possible and found a air box that is exactly what I was thinking of building. It took a simple mod but I i did not have to make a box, which saved me a lot of time. https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4816/3...73fdeeb4_c.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4868/4...625d1b9f_c.jpg https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4875/4...d1b8dd9f_b.jpg |
