Little update. Received new reluctor wheel late Friday in the mail. Mark installed the new wheel on shaft and put everything back together on Saturday.
We hooked up my OBD11 scanner and checked the speed, was showing nice and smooth, no up and down like a hearbeat. Will have to wait a day or two before I can drive it. We had about 4" of sleet between Wed. and Thurs. so the drive is not good. Pic 1 is the gauge on my phone, where we checked the speed. Pic 2 and 3 is the driveway. Later...Jim |

Quick update, drive way all dry, so I took about a 30 mile drive today to check things out. What a difference, the new reluctor wheel made the computor happy. It stays at a steady 60 mph when I can hold the throttle correct. Trans is not shifting in and out of lock up torque converter. Cruise holds a steady 70 mph when on the 4 lane. Super happy with it. Still need to have Brendan hook up his lap-top, but good for now.
Heres a couple pics. Showing driving down the road. Second pic is of my phone hooked up to OBDII showing what the computor sees. Not clear, but rpm is 1254 at 59.7 mph. Later Jim |

Very nice!

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build
Just lumbering along! You might need a gear change, LS's don't lug very well. Their happy place is in the higher revs.

Looks like you will be out terrorizing the neighbor hood very soon. Do they use salt on the road where you live? They use truck loads of it up here usually not washed off the road till mid April

Re: My 50 roadster pickup build
Right on....Good deal.
Glad you are getting is all sorted out. Marc |

Hey guys and gals, been driving the truck alot and enjoying it greatly. Mark and I when to the Mid-American nationals in Springfield this past week-end. I now have 1335 miles since the change. Really love it. I got 20 mpg and Mark got 21 mpg. Running 70 mph most of the time with the air on. Here's a few pics at the fairgrounds.
Pics 3,4-5 are of an Erskine, never heard or seen one before, story is it was build by Studerbarker, but named the Erskine in 1927 thru 1929. It wasn't selling to good because of the name, so in 1930 it's name was changed to Studerbarker. Next group pics 3&4 are of a Model A, he was just up from were we parked. It is going to SEMA. Next group pic 1 is a Jag, pic 2 62 chevy (had one in 1965) Pics 3,4-5 are of a super nice pickup. Enjoy this pics...Jim |

Nice show, thank you for sharing. Boy you already have 1335 miles since the upgrade which seems like just a month ago.. ha ha
Glad to see that you are out enjoying the fruits of your labor. Marc |
Re: My 50 roadster pickup build
after 1335 miles, how would you rate the LS vs the SBC?
|
Re: My 50 roadster pickup build
That's right, if you don't drive them what's the point. Glad to hear you are loving the swap.

Ya I remember your deer. At least you are not driving a super rare one of a kind multi million dollar vehicle, take it out for a little drive and smoke a deer.
