Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
Yes it's a short bed. I have to measure the junk yard bed. Rhino lining is like a rubber coating, not as tough as Line-X. But that was my thought, or a bed mat. Again CHEAP.

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
I have thought about just using diamond plate with line-X over it. If you had access to cheap diamond plate. Shiny aluminum diamond plate would look neat , but probably not cheap!

I like the grill without the bowtie.

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
i always surprised they don't use marine ply for the bed floor you Can make grooves in it with a router and lay polished aluminum strips in it with lock bolts trough it to mount it to the frame and then lacquered to a shine one sheet of ply should be pretty close to the size of the bed floor and most likely sheaper that a floorkit
that outdoor carpet looks nice too it might be a bice option if you have a top on the bed |
Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
forgot it was a stepper too.. my bad... No fender openings to mess with.. On a 60-66 short Fleet, the start of the fender openings are a little different from the newer models.
marine plywood would be really easy. Grille is better without the Bowtie |
Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
I painted the 57 Chevys frame that I'm working on today. I used Gloss Black KBS Coatings. I sprayed it on, and came out 100% better than POR-15.

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
thats impressive you wouls allmost use it to paint a T ford body with it

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
Looks like powder coated. It is supposed to be very durable, and is good to stop rust. Like POR-15. I've used POR-15 a few times, and this is much better in my opinion. It sprayed on real nice. and didn't want to run, plus it flowed out just like POR-15

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
what's the cost diffrence between the two? POR and this?
|
Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
Same price. $44.95 a QT

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up

I'll have to try that. I wasn't to impressed with pr stuff. Plus I like to spray stuff. Did you have to thin it? What size tip? Hope they have it here.;) Looks nice.

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
Does it come in satin or something less glossy?

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
Says it's just a top coat. You need to first paint it with rust seal. POR you can just paint over bare metel ( spray it with metal prep). It works out to cost twice as much. If you seal it with rust seal.:ito:

Re: 1965/73 Cheap Build Up
Read all the posts...yeah, I'm a glutton...took a couple of days to read. Very nice build, love the door handles, still up in the air about the bed, but will wait to see it painted. What matters most is if YOU like it!
