Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Well, after fighting with the "exactly like the originals" pre-bent stainless steel brake lines I got from InLine Tubes via GMC Paul's I was able to re-bend the lines so they fit the frame. Because of the experience with the brake lines, I bought 15' of un-bent 3/8 stainless steel tube for my fuel line and bent it myself. Went so well I should have done that with the brake lines.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I finally got off of my lazy butt. After a year of running around in primer I'm going to finish my paint job. 98% of the body work was done months ago. I had gotten to a point and stopped. Meanwhile a few other projects were done in front of it.
I backed it into the shed, and my son and I pulled it apart today. It's almost funny how fast you can strip one of these trucks down. I hope to start painting tomorrow. http://i486.photobucket.com/albums/r...k/TornDown.jpg |

I also picked up a 700r4 with converter this past weekend at Englishtown Swapmeet. Got it for $140.00 with 80k miles on it. Going to see how it runs then rebuild it before i put any big power to it. Fluid was really good in it and not burnt, transmission is in really good shape came out of an 1988 Caprice. Will just do a tune up and new seals in it for now. |

I got the inside of the bed painted this evening. It turned out pretty nice. The prep work of stripping, sanding, and knocking the dings out of the bed floor took so long, I hope it was worth the effort. I hope to get the cab, hood, door panels, and tailgate sprayed tomorrow. |
Re: What did you do to your truck today!

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Put on my Lokar shifter linkage on my 700R4 , it's way better than the mickey mouse set-up the PO had on there(zip ties should not be used on shifter linkages!!!:dum:) Still waiting on my engine from my builder, getting frustrated it's been a day or two for at least a week now.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Got my new stainless fuel lines (tank to pump) in today. Plan on removing the old lines, then installing the new ones. I also need to bend my own line to go from the pump to the carb.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
yesterday and today I pulled the front end apart. I am eagerly awaiting new 7" slam specialties bags, tie rod inner and outers, pitman arms, wheel bearings and new drum parts for the rear. Almost bit on the rear disc conversion, but had to just shut off the computer and walk away with my tail between my legs.

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I guess I better jump into this thread since I'm working on my new '68.
So far, I've given the cab a good once-over cleaning, fixed the driver's side door latch. Crazy thing wouldn't latch, so I pulled it out and it worked fine in my hand, so I put it back in and now it works fine in the door. Sunday I got the new ball joints and shock and brakes back together-driver's side only, and then today I started on the right side. I got everything apart before I ran outta steam, but going back together is the easy part. |
Re: What did you do to your truck today!
Finally got the garage cleaned out, washed the truck and moved into the garage. Want to keep out of the elements until I get a job and can start pouring money into it. To bad I don't have the money, cause I got all the time in the world. :chevy:

Re: What did you do to your truck today!
I discovered that my spare -- original, I believe -- contained no air. I have not checked it in a great many years. If it loses air, as I expect it to, I'll be shopping for a wheel & tire....
