Got alittle done today.;) Work on it tomorrow too.:metal: Not to sure how to hook up the throttle linkage or the water to the manifold. Maybe hook it up inline with the hoses going to the heater?
|
Re: Daverods project 66
For the throttle linkage, you could fabricate a kind of bellcrank setup that would bolt onto the rear carb studs. Either that or convert to a cable throttle.

Re: Daverods project 66
Dave-- I read something on stovebolt (or somewhere??) about the carb positioning on a Six. I think It said to turn the 4 barrel carb sideways so the primary's fed evenly to front and rear as the six intake is a long rascal and the primary's are closer to the front in your picture. Recall some controversy on whether you get equal fuel to the front and rear cylinders. Maybe others can enlighten us both on this matter.
OR just keep the throttle down and the secondaries working and you should be fine!!! |

Thanks Capt I might just go with a cable :uhmk: |

ideas. I was thinking about turning the carb. It seems no matter what the center cylinders would get more gas then the end ones. I do see how it would be more even. Looks like 1/2 turned 1/2 not turned.

Re: Daverods project 66
hey dave do you have a link to that last pic that engine looks awesome
|
Re: Daverods project 66
I turned mine 90 degrees and it didn't make any difference in performance. Most die hard inliners say it does...perhaps if you racing......

Re: Daverods project 66
i wish i knew more about it that looks like a pretty big carb for a 292
|
Re: Daverods project 66
Dave I wonder if anybody has ever done a dyno test on a 4 barrel VS.two or three deuces for flow and horsepower? It makes sense that three carbs would flow fuel better to the end cylinders.

Bubba
I'm sure they have...reference Leo Santucci's Chevrolet Inline Six Power Manual. Lots of good info in there. |
Re: Daverods project 66
Dave,
I can't find a pic her at home, but i know I saw one at work the other day of mine with a Holley 390 on it and turned sideways. I got the carb at either Jegs or Summitt and I'm sure the bellcrank came with it. They probably sell them seperate. I'll look dor the pic when I go back on Tuesday. |

Getting better at the ebay thing. Did'nt fall asleep this time. Did'nt drink to much rockstar and hit the wrong buttons. Got a rear roll pan for my 64,new still in the box. Waited till three minutes left. Won the bid by .50.:metal: Too funny. Got my carb linkage done. Hooked up the water to the manifold. Need to hook up the clutch linkage.
|
Re: Daverods project 66
awesome
so how much did you get the roll pan for |
Re: Daverods project 66
75.50 ;) Not a steal but I was going to buy one anyway. Every little bit helps. Just sold the seat off my sled for 100 so that covered it.:mm:

Getting closer.:uhmk: Almost fire in the hole.

Re: Daverods project 66
Pulled my spark wires off when I painted the engine. Should have taken a picture. Thought I was being smart and just looked at the last engine picture in my thread. The black engine looks good but his wires are off one hole counterclockwise. Once I moved all the wires one hole she fired right up.:metal: Got a oil leak brhind my dash to fix, if I even hooked it up. Water leak in the thermohousing guess I should have used a gasket and sealer?

Re: Daverods project 66
I like it!! Fire that thing up!:metal::metal:
|
Re: Daverods project 66
I just got caught up on your build and it's looking good spud.
|
Re: Daverods project 66
Fire in the hole. :metal:Nothing like the sound of open headers. I think I'm going for a drive. :smoke:Turn the sound on your computer all the way up to get the true sound.

Re: Daverods project 66
Any ideas on where the distrubator vac line hooks onto the carb? Also where does the hose from the valve covers go? Into the carb or into the manifold?
