Re: Nik's 62 build
Morning from my train into London Nick.... yup, working all day to 5pm at a large academic meeting.
Not been on very many threads the last few weeks as I have been trying to get my Charity bike ride sponsorships sorted out, and it is going well, thankfully. As always I love the work you have been doing. The safety belt tailgate latches are pure genius, love them. As for your floor...... who knows, someone may have a decent floor is a truck that they are doing a full resto on. And if they know, they could offer it to you as a patina do replacement for the ply. Enjoy your fishing trip..... I need a break. |

WOW! I haven't posted on here in a long time! It's time for a big update! Despite the lack of posts, I've still been working away on the truck for the past few months. The last post was near the end of June, I had just mounted the rear bumper and installed the west coast mirrors, and that's where we left off. Once I returned from a little fishing trip I started to dig into the passengers side cab corner and cab mount rust repair. Here is both the outer skin and cab mount removed.

Then I welded the new cab support in place and coated with rustoleum.

Then I lined up the cab corner and welded it in place.

I smoothed out the welds with a flapdisk. Pretty smooth, however might need a sliver of filler. All this silver paint is just what I had at the moment to protect everything from the rain.

Picked up a set of 3 pairs of nice black lap belts with chrome buckles from kms tools (similar to lmc). Drilled the holes in the floor and used large flat washers on the backside, bolted down with grade 8 hardware.

Scored a set of 1950 Pontiac Taillights from a local guy, they cleaned up pretty good. Installed them in the backs of the fenders.

Beautiful rainbow from the river, caught it on the first cast with a black leech.

While I was down there, I visited my buddy Al (sspeed66). I bought this horn ring from him as my old one was already broken when I bought the truck.

When I returned from my trip I bled out the brakes, finished a few little things and fired it up! It was finally moving under its own power!

Right before school started back up I put insurance on it and started driving it around town!
