I also found a high hump cover locally & free thanks to a post on a FB group… Picking it up this weekend… Picking it up just in case the NV3500 doesn't fit the low hump… The guy already moved the cab so the firewall piece is gone… Fabrication time if needed...;)

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...

In this day and age religion is often frowned upon, but I have met some of the most amazing people from various religions over time.
From Buddhists to Sikhs, through Muslims and Christians and everything inbetween, there are many good people out there and if you do not allow yourself to be swayed by petulant religious opinion, the world is an awesome place with the odd idiot inbetween trying to make it rubbish for others.

I have had these crucifixes running around in my head for a long time.

Today at the one bootfair, I bought a handful of carpenters nails for 50p though the seller had agreed to 20p, I did not have the heart to take the change.

Came home and welded these up for my friend Ta2Don in Arkansas to stick in his Tattoo shop. (Or on the back of his RatRod)

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps0mszb28s.jpg

A little bit of prep, some quick mig welding and we have three crosses.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psa7rbrevp.jpg

Followed by some finishing off on the linisher in the woodwork shed, mounted on a bit of old fence post I still have not figured out what to do with.......

For those of the Christian faith, the story should be fairly apparent.

Job done.

http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/m...psr3ghb9nt.jpg

Will get these to Don when we go over on this Road trip in October http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=653025

Definitely looking forward to it.

My wife has had a crucifix for decades that was made out of horse shoe nails. Nice to have something unusual and home made that was put together for a specific person:

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...

Been following along behind the scenes Don. Cool git-down at your shop! The winner was the winner for sure. The '68 and the late arrival were awesome, two-door Novas are just plain killer but at different level and Beetles are a cool of their very own. Shoulda drug the rat down and mocked it up! Throw a Don'z logo on the door?

To be honest, I've only sub'd your thread like a year ago or so and haven't line-by-line read it through but I think I get the jist. It's going to be a cool truck man! I like your old wheels and tires better though. Sandblast and clear, new white-letter 50's?? Just sayin ;)

I'm no professional or self proclaimed expert but I've fired up a bunch of Chevy's from scratch. Learned some lessons the hard way too. If you have any drama getting this thing rocking be sure and post it up here. I'm on every single day and I'd love to be able to help.

The first motor my Boy put together, he primed it the same way. Just didn't have the gauge hooked up and shot oil into his mouth. He's a spitter.

Thanx Brother!!! Was gonna drag the Rat along, but my only trailer available was full so that was a no-go...:thud:
re: Wheels… I really would love some old school Cragar SS but, due to the lowering blocks, the U-Bolts would hit before those white 15's in the event of a flat tire...:ack: May look for some newer 5 spoke style wheels in the future, but the budget part has me trading and such...:mm:

I will hit you up once I get a chance to spin her to life… had a hiccup today that stalled the start… more to come...:waah:

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...

Well, the plan was to fire the engine today… The plan WAS...:waah:

Due to the unavailability, locally, of a lower radiator hose along with the shenanigans for some furry creature...:dohh:
https://c4.staticflickr.com/8/7698/1...80acc3ca_z.jpgDSC_0001 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr

Needless to say, the intake had to be removed and a handful of little acorns removed...:banghead:

Will update again once the lower hose materializes…;)

Ta2Don 05-12-2015 09:13 PM

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...

Once I re-installed the intake, I installed the Dizzy and Temporarily mounted the Fuel pump… Getting ready…
