Did you start a new thread for the trailing arm conversion or are you going to keep it in here?

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred" w/ 5.3L LS swap info

I thought when I do it that I would start a new thread in the main 73-87 forum, and post a link to it in here.

Can you do a Fred thread Part 2 maybe?

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred" w/ 5.3L LS swap info

You thinking this should stay the LS part of the build, and start a new one for the rest of the truck (suspension, body & paint, interior, etc.)?

Fred has pretty much been a guide for many to do an LS swap but you have done things like the rear end swap too that may be of interest but starting a new thread and linking to it for something as big as the trailing arm swap is probably a good idea. Putting it in the general suspension forum will get input from people who may not be following this thread too.

Wow!! I have not been on here in a couple of years since I parted with my truck and I come back to this? Great job. I have been wanting to get back into a square body so bad lately and this is exactly what I wanted to do to it... ok, well I was thinking more along the lines of a 6.0 though, lol. I knew once I visited again, the itch would get worse and you make it look all too easy. I will have to keep reminding myself I still have a ways to go before I can begin this. Either way, when I am ready, this will be the first post I read again. :metal::chevy:

Nice to have you back Ric83. Look around at some of the guys posting here, there are a couple of them doing 6.0 swaps.

No seriously, I have no idea where it's at......

So this will have to do for now:

2006 Silverado harness, starting at PCM connectors and moving out from the PCM -

BARE WIRES:

White - To tach, 4cyl signal
Green/White - To fuel pump relay control, 12v +
Green/White - AC cycling switch
White - To brake light switch, cruise
Green/White - AC clutch enable relay control
Purple - To brake switch, for TCC
Green/White - VSS, to speedo
Green - To OBD II connector, in vehicle
Brown/White - To SES light

3 Red wires - Each to a 12v key-on fused power source
1 Orange wire - To a 12v battery fused power source
1 Purple wire - To starter solenoid (tie trucks starter wire to this one, or leave it alone and use trucks wire to the starter)

CONNECTORS:

• Electric fans (high and low, I will have to supply the ground)
• TAC module
• Wires for cruise: Dark Blue, Gray/Black, Gray
• DS coil packs
• DS injectors
• Alternator
• Coolant temp sensor (front of left head, for PCM)
• Ground
• AC compressor [probably won't need/use]
• AC pressure switch (on AC line) [probably won't need/use]
• Starter solenoid (see “1 Purple wire” above)
• Crank sensor
• Oil level switch (in oil pan)

MAIN HARNESS SPLITS IN TWO HERE:

One:

• MAP sensor
• Passenger side O2 sensor, front
• MAF
• PS coil packs
• Ground
• PS Injectors
• Throttle body

Two:

• Knock sensor harness on intake manifold
• Oil PSI switch (behind intake manifold, for PCM)
• Cam sensor
• Ground
• Driver side O2 sensor, front
• Transmission, drivers side
• Transmission, VSS, tailhousing
• Transmission, passenger side

Bob did you note which PCM connectors that the wires came from and the color of your connectors? Jay

Re: Glock's new project: "Fred" w/ 5.3L LS swap info

I did not. They can differ from year to year (there are a few different year ranges in fact), so it's best to get a schematic of the year you are working on the be sure of colors and pin locations.
