Re: PO has me PO'd
Thanks for thinking of me Edd, PP or PMO? Should we drop this down to the classifieds, so i dont get my thread locked......that would suck, after all these years!
Great job you did on your fuel filler, really helps to give people options |
Re: PO has me PO'd
Sorry didn't think of that. I was thinking more of a trade, What have you got that doesn't fit your build. Mine is 2wd now, and close to getting it running. Trying to figure out evaporator can hook up,and pcv valve vents from 327.
|
Re: PO has me PO'd
OK Edd, that works too! Let me look around the shop, see what i can find that may be usefull for 2WD, or other tidbits

Re: PO has me PO'd
Got to spend a little more time on the fuel lines.....found out that it was better to clamp a wrench in the vice, using two wrenches at once tends to wobble, and will nick the coating on fitting and stand out like a sore thumb

Used oversized washer head SS bolts to hold the wheel cylinders on, you can get them in the correct size, but bigger has to be better, right? http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2856/1...7c9a9492_c.jpg 20131206_103805 by jarosaj, on Flickr |
Re: PO has me PO'd
Ok,came up with a proper bracket for my fuel filter.....bracket was alittle big, so i had to pad it out alittle, fits snug

Re: PO has me PO'd
What's the reason for mounting the fuel filter along the frame and not near the carb in the engine bay?
Have a Merry Christmas! |

Re: PO has me PO'd
Your welcome Jim. My desktop took a leave of absence and work has been scarce lately so it just sits waiting to be fixed.. The only time I have access anymore is when I can catch one of my kids NOT using their laptop. I put a stop to my wife's overseas travels because of the increased dangers. Sending you and all yours the wishes of a Very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Re: PO has me PO'd
Makes sense regarding the placement of the filter. I've noticed these trucks can be a pain to work on, mine has a 6" lift(soon to be 3") and to get access to the bay can be a challenge. I'll have to remember that location if I ever have to re-work the lines.
|
Re: PO has me PO'd
Thats whats nice about a four inch lift, hop on your creeper and slide right under your truck.

Could be on the way to solving my filler neck problem, if i dont destroy it first |
Re: PO has me PO'd
OK, here is my new thought process.....
If i remove the tank neck mounting flange, the fill tube should be able to slide out more, making up the distance i lost dropping the tank down. Problem with that is, i cant find out what is holding flange to tube, its not solder, b/c ive heated it way up and it didnt move. Next possibility is two spot welds i think i see. Next chance i get to work on truck, ill explore that option.... YOU CAN STOP ME AT ANY TIME, if you have a more viable solution Happy New Year http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2870/1...3ea4dbd0_c.jpg 20131227_125246 by james_jaros, on Flickr AS A SAFETY SIDE NOTE, i want to bring something to your attention when using tools. When trying to cut a SS wire the tip of my favorite diagonal cutters went flying somewhere in the workshop Please wear safety glasses at all times, couldve put my eye out http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3672/1...1e674bf1_c.jpg 20131227_140936 by james_jaros, on Flickr |

Re: PO has me PO'd
Goooooood morning America! Got to work on the return side of the fuel lines.....i like the way the color matches my other hoses, son hates it, says heater hoses should be black
http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5535/1...0747ed99_c.jpg 20140104_095451 by james_jaros, on Flickr http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7324/1...2e834e67_c.jpg 20140104_095321 by james_jaros, on Flickr Waiting on an additional 10 feet of proclassic hose from Jegs(email gift certificate from one of my sons), 8" of snow seemes to have held up delivery Yeah Dale, i couldnt believe it happened either, but it did fly off at sub sonic speed, damage couldve been much worse, if it had been aimed at my eye.... Yeah, i know my frame rails are rusty, but that will be addressed another day...... I may notch the power steering pump bracket, to allow the hose to have less of a kink Next project, build bracket to mount relay for ECU......FAST says i can load a blank program, so on star can shut my truck down in the event that it is tolen |
Re: PO has me PO'd
Nice work as always Jim.
“So on star can shut my truck down in the event that it is stolen” I like this idea. I wonder if anyone makes a plug in system that shuts the ECM down remotely with a cell phone or App.? I don’t need to subscribe to anything else that requires monthly installments but I would like to be able to disable my truck to deter thieves. These things aren’t very difficult to start without a key. |

If you hear of any apps, let me know....my smart phone is smarter then me! Got the last ten feet of fuel hose, so i will be finishing up that shortly..... Your truck looks amazing, great work. You Michigan guys really have the nack, really like where you put the heater switches |

Making good progress Jim. Keep it up!

Re: PO has me PO'd
Had a couple minutes to work on the fuel lines.....make sure you keep an eye at a certain point on the braid, as you tighten the nut. This will tell you if the fuel line is being pushed out by the clamping barrel. I add a light oil( 3in1) to the threads and cone to help with assembly. What seems to work for me.....holding and pushing the hose, put the barrel against the leading edge of your wooden workbench, using a rachet wrench rotate the barrel counter clockwise untill it seats against the inside shoulder
Still have to build a separator for the two hoses to keep it off of the power steering tank Also, found an app to remote start wifeys Malibu http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2812/1...272976f3_c.jpg 20140110_112652 by james_jaros, on Flickr |

Re: PO has me PO'd
That duel sport looks like a ton of fun! I am bikeless at the moment but will never let my MC endorsement expire. You never know when the right opportunity may find you. The last duel sport I had was a mid ‘90s xr600 probably better than ten years ago. The jeepster is way, way on the back burner but I am really looking forward to working on it. My new year’s resolution was to not buy any more projects.

600 ccs mustve been fun, i only have 400, and thats enuff for me. Although, a turbo kit is not out of the question You can always call the jeepster an investment and not a project, so as to keep your resolution intact:lol: Sheesh! just went pink |
Re: PO has me PO'd
Mornings progress: had some time to work on the fuel pump extension rods, i need roughly 13 1/2" from mounting flange on pump to the bottom of fuel tank. I used some 3/8" hard copper to get the height, spacer is between the lower part of the pump and spring
I like to use a old fitting in vise, so as not to damage a fitting im using. Make sure to leave enough tubing to swing your mini cutter around past the siphon tube Now, i just have to extend the pump harness http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7311/1...672ebff9_c.jpg 20140114_125452 by james_jaros, on Flickr http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7366/1...5f3413f1_c.jpg 20140114_131333 by james_jaros, on Flickr |
