Show looks like it went over good.
No pun intended....but that's nuts. It always amazes me the places critters can get into. |

Obviously, the rags and tape, as well as the plastic bag that encased the motor on the stand, were no match to the craftiness of the guilty creature... The thermostat housing, sans thermostat, was the entry point...:sumo: Note to Self… Next time you have a motor on a stand, set the thermostat in place to allow for quicker and easier removal of food stash...:haha: |
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Well at least you found a good place to keep food hidden..ya know...those sweet we're not aloud to get sometimes.

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Tuesday, when I had planned on the start-up, I realized all the fuel line I had on hand was 5/16ths and the Fuel Filter and Pump have 3/8ths fittings...:dohh:
So, yesterday, along with the Lower Rad Hose, I grabbed a handful of 3/8ths Fuel Line… Upon arriving home I put the Lower hose on and the Brother-in-law returned with my daily driver and a weird noise under the hood... Popped the hood, listened to a noise that seemed to be steady yet sporadic… Didn't sound internal, so we switched it off and upon looking found this… https://c4.staticflickr.com/8/7736/1...8bb45abc_z.jpgIMG_3145 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr https://c4.staticflickr.com/8/7785/1...6d508848_z.jpgIMG_3146 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr P/S Pulley gave up the ghost...:waah: I traded a '71 Super Beetle (That I had a total of $50 in) for this truck and about 6 months after getting the truck I had to put intake gaskets on it. At that time I noticed the P/S Pulley had a mark across the grooves. The mark was similar to a mark made by a chisel... After putting it back together I've been using the truck daily for about 4 and a half years… No clue what caused the mark, but that is where the Pulley split across the drive surface...:thud: Luckily, I had on hand an extra pulley, so about 40 minutes later the DD was back in business...:bann: Start-Up coming soon...:hot: |
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
In the infamous words of Igor… "It's Alive!!!" :metal::bann::metal:
https://youtu.be/NfhAIelI9aY This is my first attempt to load a video and embed it here… Oil Pressure holding just over 50psi at idle… First attempt at cranking resulted in nothing but the starter spinning the motor over… We pulled the distributor and rotated back one tooth, re-installed and she fired right up...:chevy: Feeling good, now to re-install cab and get after re-assembly...:hot: |
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Well done Don I bet you are pleased . Getting the motor running is such a great way to get motivated into getting it finished

Thanx Guyz for looking in and the kind words...:mm:
Today I fired it up again in order to bleed the P/S system and check the operation of the P/S Box… https://youtu.be/UQWFmwRlkTo Then I fired p to get a few revs in...:metal: Due to the backfire and subsequent flame from the right bank, Valve adjustments and timing check is in the near future…;) http://youtu.be/CwMQbzS3xuc The Engine is holding 52psi Oil Pressure at idle after warmed up…;) https://c4.staticflickr.com/8/7785/1...5120277e_z.jpgIMG_3193 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr I also found that a pack of hose clamps I purchased at a truckload tool sale are garbage… Tightened this one up on the hose and after the short time running I found this… Tried to check the tension on the clamp and it is stripped and not holding tension…:banghead: https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8794/1...f7395938_z.jpgIMG_3208 by Donald Olivo, on Flickr |

Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
Congrats to you and your gang Don.
Looks like it was a great day for all. Maybe we should rename you "Packin' Preacher" Unfortunately in the UK Vets and service men/women are not respected in the same way. In my former country the same applies. So to my adopted brothers - Thank you for your Service. |
Re: Donz '65 SWB Stepper Budget Build...
