Re: What did you do to your truck today?
The first thing I did on the truck was buy an appropriate sized battery, replaced the clamps, then replaced the ground wire from the battery to the block. I will run some new grounds and clean some stuff up.
While on the topic of random wires, WTF is this? i would like to know wtf that is too |
Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Thats a power resistor, usually used for trailer brakes or some alt/ac outputs used to use those, take it off and toss it !!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
New Chrome Dome Light in the freshly painted cab.
http://inlinethumb14.webshots.com/19...600x600Q85.jpg Installed New Defroster Hoses: Got these from Classic Parts, excellent quality! These are certified and approved by Sponge Bob :-). (You can see how close the new paint color is (above photo) compared to the stock paint under the dash near the defroster hoses, photo below New paint is a bit more "gold" in color) http://inlinethumb48.webshots.com/44...600x600Q85.jpg Started body filler on Camaro Dash... doing body work is new territory for me. http://inlinethumb29.webshots.com/45...600x600Q85.jpg |
Re: What did you do to your truck today?
Lakeroadster,
What brand filler is that? I prefer a lightweight evercoat product, it sands so easy compared to others that is rock hard. They also make a finish product called icing that is applied over primer ( or filler, it just will not stick to metal) that makes finish bodywork and blocking a breeze. Well, in comparison anyway....;) |

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
After rebuilding 230 and refitted it with new clutch, started it today ran in camshaft and adjusted valve clearance, very happy now I've gotta sort out why brakes have failed. New shoes and rubber lines worked a treat for a few weeks now all of a sudden pedal goes to floor. :drama:

Got the entire dash Painted. It had to be painted first so it could be masked off when the rest of the cab gets done. The grey top looks killer INHO.

This is a great thread - I'll play today: installed inside bed latches for tail gate so no more ugly chains (still have to cut off old chain latches, weld holes etc.), and finally finished cleanup/priming on replacement nose pieces to go on later.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
I worked on my bed. Grinded the old rusty strips off, started sanding and priming the bed and will put new strips on tomorrow. Not a whole lot.

We went to the car wash, since the sun was out and is wasn't raining. Met a guy there who had a 65 Step. Pretty nice truck, except the camper shell.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
the other day i rode over to alabama & picked up the 455 buick that i bought while i was in afghanistan. today i checked and it was ALMOST locked up. a half a can of pb & lots of rocking back & forth & now she turns just fine. will see what she looks like with the heads off later but for now this will have to do. turned out to be a '72 single exhaust, prolly outta an electra or something. it should push the old '66 great!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?
The family wanted to go look at Christmas lights, so I suggested I’d drive them around in the back of the truck so they could have an unobstructed view in the crisp sub freezing air. Apparently they have no sense of adventure so I didn’t get to drive it tonight!
