Re: Daverods project 66

I don't see a problem with the cherry picker tipping if the arm is adjusted right.

Re: Daverods project 66

For a straight up dead lift no problem. Where the problem comes in is trying to roll the cab / hoist around with the hoist extended out that far.

I state this from my numerous experiences of moving my stepside bed around using my engine hoist, by myself.

If you have some people that can help it's always better to utilize them to stabilize the cab and help with positioning.

Re: Daverods project 66

It did want to tip the first time I tried it. I had the hoist to far away from the truck after I moved it closer maybe 6" away I worked fine.:metal: Did'nt damage anything. Now I need to pull my 350 trans put my torque convertor on reinstall and put my cab on the frame. Anything I need to know about putting the torque convertor on?:uhmk: Fill it with dex3.

Nice idea, but how will it level out when you lift it? Looks like it will slide off. :uhmk:

Worked great. I didnt have a pin in it where I slid the square tubing inside. That kinda worried me but the weight of the cab held it in place. The arm was close to level when i picked it up.:mm: I was wondering what the shear strenght of the cheap Lowes bolt was? I've yet to see anything shear.

Re: Daverods project 66

make sure you can pass the tires with the crane before trying to put on the cab sumtimes the crane bumps the outside front tire , so you need to take it off and put that side on a jack

Re: Daverods project 66

oh well 42 inch main flat screen TV , 24 inch computer monitor and a 17 inch laptop ....... guess Wat I'm looking at most of the time .... right the 17 inch laptop , cant beat 17 inch when its 10 inch from you're face for movie experience it covers the 150 inch wall behind it from my viewpoint
i think the future will be special goggles , kindah bleuray walkmans so you can see 3D without special glasses or high price 3D TV sets

watahyahknow 02-21-2011 06:09 PM

Re: Daverods project 66

its been done before and the length is right for it , it is a little too narrow but longer a arms in the front and a different diff for the rear could fix that

ruffrida2005 02-22-2011 12:53 AM

Re: Daverods project 66

I'll pitch in a s10 frame for it, but you got to come pick it up. and It's only the frame.

Dave I guess you weren't a Rock star, because they have atleast 2 TV's in their bathroom.

daverod 02-22-2011 12:57 AM

Re: Daverods project 66

 I was going to put a built in one in back of the towel rack, so the towell covers in up when your not watching it. Wife did'nt like the idea. I've seen ones that are in the mirror. I have a mirror on the wall so I can see the TV when I take a dump. Does that count? I drink a lot of Rockstar. That and coffie. Did'nt work today so no pictures of the floor.:waah: When u going to send me the rest of that harness. I'm thinking about doing some work. Right now my garage is full of wood that I'm using to build a wet bar. So you still have some time.

measure the wheel to wheel to see if it works i think the blazers are a little shorter , 500 for just the frame steering and suspension seems a bit steep (you dont use mush else ) a working engine included for that price or little more would be nice
on the other hand there S10 V8kits available

daverod 02-22-2011 11:11 AM

Re: Daverods project 66

I think I 'll go with a engine that gets good gas milage.;) That way I'll be able to drive it by the time I get it done.:mm:

:four::four::four: Needs a few things.:lol: Like a LS1 and some bags.:lol::lol:

Now I just need to get it home and in my nice warm garage. Came with a couple extra fenders and the most important of all a title in my name. Parts are pretty easy to find, a titles not. It's almost laying frame now.

It was cheaper. It does have rust in the floors. Think the wheels and tires off my 64 will fit on it. I need to get it on a trailer it has a couple flats. I'm not going to cut it up!! Not.:lol:

watahyahknow 02-23-2011 10:28 PM

Re: Daverods project 66

you probable don't have to cut up the sheet metal all the adaptations like cabmounts can be done to the S10 chassis
