On to business........paint!!! Finally go that 8 holed block of steel painted! Started rebuilding it today too. Got the water pump on and the manifold and I was happy with that much progress. Also made a temporary cover for the firewall and painted that, and put them on. Then the Jack and 7 started flowing so not much happened after that.............tomorrow!!!! Did I mention it was 114 degrees today?? :alky:

I have the old Chevrolet script valve covers that look better IMHO. These fit the theme of the truck since I have the 55 Bel Air emblem on the bedside. She will look like this again......her former glory!

Can't wait to have it running again, maybe 2 or 3 days and I will get to hear the melodic sounds going through the Flowmasters again.

My brother finally got around to getting his car out of storage today so the full restore could happen. I helped him get it home so no work on the truck today but I will be helping alot on this project soon. 74' Z28 HO, it has been in the family since new. It is all original except for the paint and emblems, it will be redone with the huge stripe kit that came on that year only.:chevy:

Camaro's didn't have swivel's, but the late 70's Cutlass 442 did along with the Thunderbirds in the 60's. Swivels were cool!

It feels great. Yes it is the same brother, he has two classics that need love. My nephew seems to be growing up a little so he is not as irritating as he was......maybe the truck and more time with his dad helped!

I know the Monte Carlos had swivels till 77.I saved them when I scrapped the car, along with the console,& they`ll go in my other project,a 69 Olds 88 convertible. The engine & tranny from that Monte are in my 72 GMC.
I have to say I really admire your truck,& your patience throughout the engine ordeal. The truck is truly a work of art,& especially being a long bed...

You know your swivels for sure!! Thank you for the outstanding compliments on my project! I really appreciate it, and those comments keep me focused!! Even though it's a longbed.......hahahhaha.

You`re very welcome!
Its guys like you who do outstanding work keeps me motivated in my 72 longbed.I`ve owned it,or the few remaining pieces from the original truck, since 98,when I retired the Monte.
I just need a camera & I could start a thread. The truck is ready to be blasted apart, just needs funds lol...

I does take time.......and funds! Get a camera and make some magic happen, it is contagious. My nephew has a nice 72 longbed I have been working on also, it is a Highlander. Here is a quick pic.

Got a little more done on the engine today. Tomorrow I will put an oil filter on it, dump some oil in it and prime the oil pump. It might be back in the truck tomorrow.

Thanks VA, this is even sweeter, the engine is back home!! Put some oil in it and got the pressure up, put on the starter, the alternator and the pulleys so I decided to go for it. Luckily I had help at the shop, Ronnie, Mike and Fisher....thanks guys!! Might have it runnin in a couple of days hopefully.
