Well since I have not posted pics in a while I thought I should no matter how small the mod is. I knew I had to raise my bed floor 2 inches due to my c-notches. I looking in metal yard for some scrape tubing and I could not find anything I liked, I decided to make some my own 2 inch spacers. I try to keep things simple it makes my life easier. Of course I will have to move the angle strips on the bed up 2 inches so that bed sits in the same spot as factory.

I will use the bolt to hold the washers in place and then weld it together.

Here is one of the spacers completed. I will need six of them for the three cross sills.

It will lay on the frame (I'm undecided if I will weld them to the frame or not) Its not structural so it really does not make a difference, but I am leaning towards welding them.

Really like the way the frame looks, nice job. I agree on welding to frame, one less thing to line up when installing bed for the final time...Jim

The only thing that would be raised is the bed floor. When I move the angle strips up two inches that bed will mount factory but the bed floor will be raised. The last cross sill and tailgate will be in the same spot. There will be a two inch gap when I open the tail gate but I fab something up for cosmetic reason when the time comes.

This is a extreme case, my gap will only be 2 inches but you can get the idea.

Kabwe-

I had a simular gap issue with my raises bed. I just welded in a panel and tied it into my rol pan. When my tailgate is down (which is almost never) it is nice and clean. Just sharing ,I know that you will come up with something slick.

I may have worded it wrong, what I meant was that bolting it or welding it will not affect the structural integrity thats all. The tubing is 3/16 thick and the washers where added to align with the holes in the frame and to stop any lateral movement and once bolted and sandwiched between the frame and the cross sills it will fine. I still think I going to weld them because I'm known to lose things and its one less thing to lose.lol

That's exactly what I was going to do. Beautiful truck man.

Ok im totally lost. But whatelse is new. Now why are you raising your bedfloor, isnt that to lower the bed when using airbags? I know you were doing a static drop and not using big wheels on your truck. So is it a clearence issue with something?

I did similar, except I had a new rear sill bent up to my specs, which was then butt-welded to the stake pockets so that I didn't have the overlapping metal (which caused the original stake pockets to rust through).

It is correct that you are always lost, but I consider you my hot rodding responsibility. I am your Lieutenant Dan and you are my Forrest Gump so I will explain things clearer so that you may understand Forrest. Remember when I redid my c-notch for more clearance? Well because I did higher c-notches I now have to raise my bed floor 2 inches for clearance or the bed floor will hit the c-notch. Are you caught up now Forrest.lol

Bam you mention about a grinding disc that will shrink metal. I have been in a closet for about 20 years. I called the parts house today and they didn't know what I was talking about. Could you tell me what or where I can get one of those disc. Thanls Rich

Its called a skrinking disc. I like the smooth ones you can buy them all day long on ebay. Practice on some scrap metal first. When using it don't use any pressure let the disc do the work.

Me crazy? heck your the comedian!! it was pretty funny though..
the build is coming along, i visited my dad a week or so ago and he is so far ahead on the body, he told me to come pick it up in April as he plans to be done with it.
So that only means one thing, i better put it in gear and finish the chassis.
Ive been working on the rear, installing the leaf springs i bought (Explorer) but im having second thoughts about it, Im tore up between it and a 4 link setup. I dont intend to bag it, i just want a nice mean stance, but really im not to confident on how it will turn out. And the only reason im thinking about the 4 link is because of how it can be adjusted to ensure it is square.
but then again, i have this thing called BUDGET.

There is nothing wrong with leaf springs. Just go with them now and change it out later if you still want to do that. A flip kit should get you low enough and if not you could always add a lowering block. If you still want a 4 link at a later date, well thats why we say they are never done.lol
