Great photo! The vintage 2 piece Alcoa's and tu tone paint job look sharp! Appears to be a '65 C 80, but might be a heavy duty C 60 also.

He was a member who would post on the '60-'66 GMC truck site. He did a wonderful job restoring that truck. I remember it being a '62.

That's a big bed on that old truck. He'd have to have extra axles now days to run that setup. Neat truck

Yellow loved the Brigadier. The had a few tandems, but mostly single rear axle, both high and low hood. Lots of low hood city tractors with L10 Cummins power.

It seems Yellow kept the Brigadier alive. They must have bought half of all trucks made. They were a real world test bed for the model for sure. Wasn't that streamline Brigadier done with Yellow? Never mind, found it. It was Preston 151 Line. Wrong orange truck.

Here are a couple other Omaha Orange GM Yellow trucks

Re: GM Semis

Yellow and all the new car haulers. In the mid-80's, the Brigadier was still the best selling heavy duty short conventional, and that's why it stayed production after VolvoGM Truck was formed. I was told the 'old' Pontiac Truck And Coach continued building Brigadiers until sometime in late 1989 or early 1990 when that plant closed and all big truck production moved to Janesville. Wonder if Yellow got the last one.

There's a good chance they did. And oh yeah, the car carriers. Lots of those.

The other day I saw a New Penn (old regional LTL) tractor trailer, which are dark green, wearing Yellow signage. The Yellow logo (orange background) was on the doors of the truck and trailer. It had New Penn on it somewhere. I don't see New Penn trucks often enough to know if they were even still around. I looked it up and YRC has owned them for a while and they decided to shut it down and consolidate. The article was from '19

Uh oh, I better put a GM truck picture up to set things straight!

I tried

What's not to love? I could see Mopar and Fomoco guys drooling over that one :ito:. Nice choice on the bumper. Not that the rest needs it but that really sets it off.

Let me see what I have here.......

This GM Semis topic is getting old

This was one of Fred Craig's GMC collection. He would bring them all to the show. He was part of getting the ATHS Tri-State show near Winchester, VA going. He passed away on us back a few years. A great guy and this Jimmy has been a favorite of mine for some time

Another one of those pride of ownership rigs. Highly polished and lots of chrome plating work. Photo is from 1960 and vehicle was in daily use earning its keep.

I spotted this Jimmy Brigadier right as I got off work located at a truck repair place next door to where I work. Formerly Yellow #76826 I believe, I'd get more pics but I didn't wanna trespass.

I'd like to have one like that. You would think they'd be everywhere.

Steel Tilt with a sleeper, kind of rare. Unlike the Ford tilt cab sleepers which were fiberglass caps, the ones I have seen on GMC's were sheet metal. The sleeper cab shows up in some of the brochures in the early 60's.

Love the fat cab hay wagon. "Hay" back atcha!

That T cab is a great picture. Guys would kill for that trailer now, too. How about the modern apartments with wind units?

Some nice stuff from Macungie (ATCA National)

Ugh this Brigadier really loves to tease me lol. Parts must me a lil harder to get for these old girls. She's been parked and moved around the repair shops lot for at least the past month. The more a see it, the more I want one, even if I gotta buy one with a cat or cummins just to do a 6v92 engine sawp.

Willing to wager that's an ex-Yellow Freight Brig. with an L10 Cummins. Good little tractor.

Cool picture, but I would not have liked the "Hydramatic" transmissions.

Wonder how they held up through the years?

Greyhound Scenicruiser. Those things conked out a lot the first few years they were in service. Originally built with twin Detroit 4-71 diesels and a wacky fluid-coupling transmission. Around 1960 they were all rebuilt with 8V-71's and a Spicer 4 speed manual transmission, and they didn't get towed much after that.

Some tow truck, can't tell if it's a Marmon-Herrington or Coleman 4X4 conversion. Looks like it has a 'diesel' emblem, probably has a 4-71 in it.
