so lessons learned by doing any project any "build" the devil's in the details and you can get 80% of the big stuff done in 3 weeks and then spend months chasing the small stuff, so here we go, lets get it
I think it's a good idea to have a brake and an emergency brake before taking Electron for a spin around the block just in case things get exciting so the new transmission seems to be longer than the TH350 or at least that's how it sits under the cab, so The Greg needs to extend the parking brake linkage 6" on my '69 the driver side has the adjustable fine threaded rod like so |

the other side the texter's side has a fixed length mushroom double headed rod which I decided to cut off one end and welder on a 6" grade 8 bolt with a standard hex head (this head has to be small enuff to fit through the hole / slot in the frame rail)
I think I used the belt and suspenders method on this, where first I weldered up the bolt to the rod, then ground that flat(ish) then slipped the steel sleeve over it and bugger welded that as well |

The curse of the if I touch it and remove it I better clean it, inspect it, MEDIA BLAST it, and POWDER COAT it continues...

got the new tailgate on, fit great, good quality piece, only trouble was the left (driver side) round hinge thingie had a bit of a slight imperfection in it that we gently persuaded with a punch to get the lower hinge to go smoothly inside it

managed to perfectly align the brand new fiber glass roll pan to the bad body lines of the bed sides and luv the roll pan look, whacha all think?

My understanding is that brake fluid is hygroscopic so perhaps that vehicle had been in a flood or sumpin.

All the blasting and coating you do makes me want to get a cabinet and an old oven. Blasting and powder is something you can do all winter without worrying if your shop is warm enough to paint in. Or maybe move in next door to you =)
