Re: "Rice Rocket'
Lets just say your fingers would not hurt if it were a flex fan.....Because they would probably be laying on the ground;)

To hubscrub, the hole DID NOT strike again!!
I found my phone in the field. The gf and I were shooting and I guess I dropped it somewhere between the back porch (where we were shooting) and the target (in the field). Yes I live in the country with mountains behind me all of the land being ours, so dont worry  Heres a pic of my grandpaw eating milkduds in the truck I wanted a picture so I snuck this one in :) The truck drove us all over last night (prom) put some miles on it with no trouble except a loose exhaust hanger (rattled at 63 mph) :( pictures of all that later on.. Oh, and I talked to a guy at the gas station the other day (some relatives of the gf) hes gotta 72 swb in his barn he may part with..? |

Re: "Rice Rocket'
68gmccustom-I'll try to get a light and see what my total timing is this week, thanks for helping :)
copper will try to get pictures someday..lol, how many what did i have? No real updates, tightened a wiper switch up today, hoooked some heater cables up 1 is kinked (longest one). Finally mustered up the guts to push my emergency flashers THEY WORK! But the switch is broken off and the column so I had to dig it back out, I found a black round replacement in one of my catalogs, but it doenstn look like my red one in my 68. I want it to be semi original looking Where can I get it and whats involved swapping it out? Also have a carb I got froma friend im trying to trade for some rear drop springs or maybe a tach printed circuit or tach lense...? |
Re: "Rice Rocket'
How many people'd ya take to prom in it? ~was my question.
Hazard switch may take a lil time (hour or two unless you're a pro like me :D), but relatively easy. Find ya a replacement knob, probably junk yard unless someone on here knows who sells them new. Gonna have to pull your steering wheel and the one in the yard unless they'll do it for ya. If you've never done it, it's easy just get a puller from your local parts store or make one (a heavy plate threaded in the middle with some holes drilled into it, or weld a nut into it, and you need a few bolts). Take your wheel off. Remove the big nut first, then use your puller. Then remove three screws in the horn button plate. BTW might be a good idea to disconnect your battery before this cause I've learned the hard way about shorting it out, scarring the $%!* outta myself, and disturbing the neighbors! :haha: After you remove that then I think you'll be able to see your hazard knob and turn signal lever. they both remove with a phillips head screw driver. Replace with new one and reinstall everything. Before tightening the wheel down with the nut, check and make sure everything works correctly. WHEW! :thud: I think I've got all that right, but that's the basics behind it anyway. Hope that helps pal. Also when you got the wheel off, never a better time to replace the turn signal cam if it doesn't hold correctly and repaint your steering wheel if it needs it. |
Re: "Rice Rocket'

Replaced some dash bulbs today. Finally found what my true TDC is. I was 5-10 degrees off (will try to take a pic with nice camera sometime of how far I was).
Reset my initial timing, @ 10-12 (looks like 11 but that sounds stupid ) Going to double check myself tomorow re set the valves and order some timing tape/and or borrow an adj. light One day im going junkyarding for a emergency flasher switch |

Re: "Rice Rocket'
Double checked checking my exact TDC seems to line up with stock slot :)
Cleaned up the connections at the headlight wiring, and adjusted my headlights WAYY off. Going to do the relay mod sometime I hope, I have the relays just a lil scared. I guess i'll print off the diagram or something @ school and put it in the garage on the wall. |
Re: "Rice Rocket'
so....how's it running now?
|
Re: "Rice Rocket'
Same as always (TDC makr on balancer is correct).
Im going to order some timing tape or maybe borrow an adj. light. Its wierd, sometimes you have to crank it for a few seconds, sometimes it starts up instantly. Its quite cold natured too. |
Re: "Rice Rocket'
