No one caught the fact that I installed the new laptop screen upside down! look in the lower right corner of the screen pic. I thought it was funny.

I like the mid to late 90's seats in these trucks too. There is a black 72 crew cab truck on here that has the same seats you are talking about. I tried to find some interior pics but have had no luck... here are a few I did have. Nice build... I envy your ambition!

Re: 1970 GMC Suburban... for the family
Ok, I know this is April 1st, but this is not April Fools. The Suburban is going a new direction...
WE ARE MOVING TO CALIFORNIA!!!!! That's right! I'm not sure of the start date, but we are packing up and heading to California! My wife asked me if that means I would be converting to a lowered 2wd. STILL NOT HAPPENING!! |

Re: 1970 GMC Suburban... for the family
Just because we are moving doesn't mean work stops! This Axle needs to be done this week! So...
Set-up Complete. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/_F...0/DSCN2358.JPG Cleaned. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/_F...0/DSCN2359.JPG This is all I use for sealant. This is all I have ever needed. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/_F...0/DSCN2360.JPG Covered. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/_F...0/DSCN2362.JPG And a little less color. https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/_F...0/DSCN2363.JPG Yeah, i nicked the paint in one spot. |

cool!

Re: 1970 GMC Suburban... for the family
I would be afraid to move, I've got too much junk & yard ornaments to deal with. How are you going to move the suburban with the large hole in the side?

Re: 1970 GMC Suburban... for the family

1. I never realized how thick the early sub frame were.
2. At least it has a Dana 60 up front. 3. You still gonna be in the heavy equipment repair business? 4. Where in California are you moving too? Not many active mines in this area I can think of (So Cal) unless you are moving to the desert. |

Ridgecrest, CA... which is close to my family so I will be able to help my brother with his truck (pictured a few pages back)! |
Re: 1970 GMC Suburban... for the family
Cool, Lots of nice places to 4 wheel in the Sierras and Death Valley in Fall, Spring and Winter. Ridgecrest was/is the habitat of a lot of druggies so make sure you keep your stuff carefully protected and locked. They love to rip off garages for tools and anything they can sell for a quick buck. Hopefully you can find a place to work that is not highly visible. I suppose if most of your family is around there you'll get the lowdown pretty fast.

Re: 1970 GMC Suburban... for the family
depends on trans length. The sm465 and 205 were shorter than the th350 or 400 and might require one. the 68 burb I had was set up for one but it was a th350 when I got it and it was torn all apart so not to much to go on.

Re: 1970 GMC Suburban... for the family
Closer!
https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/_F...0/DSCN2380.JPG Also, I found a picture of my wifes truck. Right now it is sitting at my brothers house in Cali. Once we are settled in I am going to start in on this ASAP. For some reason I cant just limit myself to one project at a time! The only reason I may hold off on the truck is I have a car to finish and sell, which may just fund her truck! The car is sitting in Cali too. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/_F...800/img065.jpg |
Re: 1970 GMC Suburban... for the family
Nice progress on the truck! I did notice the screen pic, but I as well figured that you just had the image flipped. LOL Holly huge dump truck bat man! That looks like it would be a fun deal to work on for like a day. LOL Great job on the rear axle, it looks awesome! Congrats on your move, I wish you luck!

Re: 1970 GMC Suburban... for the family
Kinda an important part of the build, since this is gonna be the ultimate family rig! My boy is 3 months this morning! They'll be out helping me today since it's so nice out!

Re: 1970 GMC Suburban... for the family
NEW TOY!!!!
This is all a matter of opinion, but THIS is what I wanted for the rear axle on my Suburban! https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/_F...0/DSCN2555.JPG https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/_F...0/DSCN2556.JPG I'm not going to tear into this axle yet, I have some body work I need to get back to now that other peoples projects are out of the way! I'm super excited about this trade though! This axle will get discs, and the drum parts will be available if anyone needs them, but that is a ways down the road. |
