Here’s a fitment preview so far. In the first pic you can see how we are trying to retain the factory alignment notches in the pinch weld. These really help to locate all the new patch panels.

Another truck that first inspired was this 72 Napco restoration I stumbled across looking at duallies. Very cool story here http://www.stovebolt.com/gallery/ald...ll%201972.html and more pics here http://s160.photobucket.com/user/sto...?sort=6&page=1
I've been pretty much hooked ever since, man that black is gorgeous! |
Re: 72 K30 Build
Very cool flat bed. similar to my daily driver but mine is single rear wheel.

Re: 72 K30 Build
Anybody know who is the manufacturer of those aluminum dually wheels? Model#?

Re: 72 K30 Build
I'm in... this thing is cool. And I have a Open Road Motorhome cab with a similar cut out and was trying to figure out what to do with the cab, it's rust free and I hate to scrap it, now I know what to do :D

Re: 72 K30 Build
Brett, I'm not sure but go look at American Racing. Coop

Re: 72 K30 Build
Talking color we've been on the fence with the original yellow for this project (even told my wife we could call it Daisy) but cannot bring myself to do it. Truck is going to get a complete color change, we do like the 50th anniversary vibe the exterior has going on now but still leaning towards all White as the truck will live outside a lot. Medium Blue like my C30 is a close second, or maybe 2-tone Blue/White with Blue interior we really like that combo also?

We’ve gotten used to having the back out of this cab it’s quite handy so thinking it’s a good time to disassemble it. Very impressed with these parts everything that is coming off this cab is the nicest we have. Keep thinking oh that should go on the 1/2 ton project, maybe this to and the other thing?

Found a few more holes in the dash and floor. Thinking we will wait until we can flip the cab onto the firewall. It will give us a better angle and there is some other floor work (adding bucket seat floor braces & console) that will be addressed at the same time.

Managed to get the windshield and trim out without busting either.
A previous owner was not shy with the silicone though. They filled the drip rails and had installed a screen on the cowl to keep debris out. That’s going to make a mess (silicone bits everywhere) as I’ll probably take a wire wheel to it. Unless somebody knows an easier way? |
Re: 72 K30 Build
Looking awesome Brett! I expected to see the hole filled :)

Re: 72 K30 Build
Mike, Mike, Mike it's not even Wednesday yet, is your crystal ball going off? :haha: Now if I told you it was all welded up and that we were putting the final touches in this weekend, what would I have to talk about for the next week or so? :D
Thanks for the compliment. |
