Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10
Thanks Korwin, but it's not likely to happen until the summer is over anyway. We've been really busy at work these past few months and with a 3 month projection, we don't look like we're slowing down. Once I do get to it, it shouldn't be that hard to do. I already did a complete VA install on my GTO, so I know about what to expect. Plus the PO took all the factory heater stuff out already so I don't have to worry too much about disassembly.

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10
No problem man! Well if it looks like you get some downtime after summer and everything when you plan to do it let me know maybe I can free up a weekend come see that beautiful car and truck of yours and give you a helping hand never put in an a/c but wouldn't mind learning.

Here's one of my other dog, Buddy. He's 10.5 years old and has arthritis now. He can't jump up in the bed of the truck. It's sad, but this is one of the best pictures I have of him lately. He's a great dog and has been our "first child" for 7 years. He's part of the family. He's a yellow lab, but has very little color to his coat. He's pretty much all white, with faint coloring on the tips of his ears and down the middle of his back. He really loves to be with us wherever we are, so when Kristen let him out in the garage when I was working on the fuel filler hole, he really wanted to see what I was up to. Kristen had to go get the camera, and I'm glad she did. Just look at the smile on our faces!

Awesome dog, I used to have a female that looked almost like Buddy. Really light yellow. She stayed with my ex wife when I moved away. ..
I want a chocolate now. Someday I will have one. Posted via Mobile Device |

Went to a small car show today. Brought the GTO and the brother-in-law wound up bringing the truck down a couple hours later. Here are a couple pics of the two. GTO won best 60's. :metal:

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10
My Porterbuilt 1" forward LCAs showed up yesterday. I've got to make a trip to Harbor Freight to buy a ball joint tool so I can get the ball joints installed when the time comes to make the swap. But I'm well on my way to having a better ride quality all around. :metal:

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10
Duane the lower ball joint can be a pain to get in.. I'd do the loaner over HF. You have to put some major force on it. Just about everything I have ever bought from HF breaks pretty quickly.

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10
Thanks for the heads up Chad. I was a little worried about the quality, but thought I'd try it. You just saved me $70... minus the rental cost.

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10
Hey Duane, on the VA kit doesn't it mount inside the cab under the dash or somewhere like that?
Reason I'm asking I'm going to eventually redo my a/c for my truck you know how Texas is  and I'm going be laying frame for my truck so I was going to have to get different a/c kit i was just curious on the set up for it. |
Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10
Here's a link to their info page for the 67-72 GM truck kits: http://www.vintageair.com/67-72chevygmcpup.asp
I tried posting pics but they were huge when linked directly to their image. Go to the bottom of the page on the link above and click the pics. The evaporator is mounted under the dash, completely inside the cab behind the glove box. you'll lose most of the glove box because of this though. |

here's a link for the catalog page for 73-87 GM trucks.

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10
Sweet thanks man! :metal:
I went on there website but couldn't really navigate around it, so that's why I asked. Yeah I have to figure out an alternative for me, because if I lay frame I'm going to get the slosh tubz mike makes and I'll have to relocate some stuff and you know how much of a importance it is for a/c in Texas. I can deal without a heater, I just want my a/c  |
Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10

Autozone rents the OTC brand tool. I used it several times. You pay the retail price as a deposit and get a full refund when you return it so no real out of pocket expense as long as you bring it back ;)

Re: Knomadd '71 SWB C-10
It's been far too long since I've had an update. Unfortunately this isn't an update, but some news. Just turned 32 today and got some birthday cash so it looks like I'll be able to buy some more parts. If it would just cool off enough to be bearable to work on it... :waah:
