Re: PO has me PO'd
Thanks Kurt for the compliments. Yeah it's been a long enjoyable road. The only areas that I didn't touch were under the seats and above the seam line on the cowl. Thank goodness that was rust free, I have seen some trucks with rust in that area and it looks like a PITA to fix.
You've gotta room to talk, all the work that you have done to the Big Blue One. I remember when you first bought it. I think you said it was good to go the way it was. haha You -Greg and Rab will be looking at me on the bottom side of the black trails, as I don't plan on creasing any of these great looking Goodmark panels....... well, for awhile anyway. |

Nice work, scares me watching yours, I couldn't do that, keep it going ;)

These chassis, cab setups are so stable they don't move!! Working on monocoque cars, like E-type Jags, now that is scary. Talk about door sag, the tires were on the ground and you couldn't open the doors because they were dragging. |
Re: PO has me PO'd
Jaros. Nice work. I was wondering why the patch panel you made for the kneewall to the B pillar was not solid.(It has that cut out) If you look at the pic the VT posted you see the piece hanging down without the rocker. I am currently doing the same thing that you are. Mine was for the most part intact.

But your right it should come out farther to catch more of the 'B' post patch. Any progress pics of yours??? |
Re: PO has me PO'd
Jaros: I actually had my patch screwed to it while I was fitting it. The only reason I asked was I thought it might have been there to keep the B pillar and rocker from flexing when people stepped in. I really have no clue just a guess since that metal was so thick when I patched it.
Keep up the good work. So day when I learn to post pics I put some up |
Re: PO has me PO'd
My man Jaros, your kickin' butt, the weather better warm up so this ole man can get started on his Jimmy. Your work looks great glad, to see your taking your time and doing it right the first time.
I need for the temperatures to warm up a tad (don't want to blowup my shop) so I can paint some interior sheetmetal in preparation of adding firewall insulation and dynamat. Hang in there, nice work for an ole Jarhead;) |

Re: PO has me PO'd
Got my Tabco rocker today, much heavier metal, .045"....
All my home made patch panels are 10 gauge, stood on the rocker panel with out proper support, 2 zip screws, and it didn't flex at all. So to answer the question, yes it is strong enuff. More pics to follow.... |
Re: PO has me PO'd
Here's my current progress:
THANKS GOODMARK, can't imagine how I could have done it without your product!!! http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k2...place01-31.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k2...place01-30.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k2...place02-10.jpg |

Re: PO has me PO'd
Looking good J...what's next?

Re: PO has me PO'd
Thanks Chev. I finally got to do some welding on the 'B' post backing plate, after 6 months of cutting and fitting. I had the rocker panel backing plate bent up at work, it's 10 ga. so it is beefy. Hope the project speeds up now!!! Looks like I only have 3 holes to fill in now. I'll post up some pics as soon as I can...
Going wheeling at Raush Creek this weekend, so I don't think I'll get any work done. I did get the drivers side door assbled, all new pcs., just have to put the glass in. I guess u have to put the window in first, as I can't get it in .... J. |
Re: PO has me PO'd
How goes the progress? Did you get your door glass in?

Im working on the rockers again, welded in my step up patch moving on from there. Man this 'B' post area is a PITA hardest part so far, has alot of different intersections. Can't take pics rite now, wifey borrowed the camera and left it at my daughters house - baby shower- I was bummed out that I missed it. I was rock crawling instead |
Re: PO has me PO'd
How goes the progress?
Did you get your camera back? |
Re: PO has me PO'd
Not much progress, seem to have lost the drive, maybe it will come back Sat. Anyway here's some pics:
http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k2...eplace03-2.jpg http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k2...eplace03-1.jpg Kinda redesigned things alittle, made it easier to build the part. Don't laugh at my welds it is only tacked in, and I'm using aflux core welder. Makes for a sloppier weld, but I can clean it up later. Every thing seems to fit nice.... J. |

Thanks for the update---Later---DAC |
Re: PO has me PO'd
The patch on the step up is all ground, just takes practice, been awhile since I last welded. I just keep tacking it till it is all filled in, VT had a great idea with the light behind the work, allows you to see any areas not welded. Keep your gaps as tight as you possibly can, makes it a whole hella've lot easier....
Any pics of your progress??? J. |
Re: PO has me PO'd

Side note, did you try those 35's with 4" of lift? |
Re: PO has me PO'd
I have only rant the 35's with the 6'' lift beacause the wheels are 15x12so I dont think they would of been able to turn.. I worked out to just the rocker since it was fine I do have new ones that I plan on putting in sometime soon though.

Re: PO has me PO'd
