Re: '62 GMC Suburban "Rust"oration, Patina Build.....
Not much progress, but some is better than none .....
Front A-arms diassembled and off to coating. Wasn't planning on coating the A-arms, but since the guy is just right across the parking lot, and I threw them with a bunch of other parts from a customer build. http://i48.tinypic.com/29x651y.jpg - - http://i47.tinypic.com/2hh0vtj.jpg - - http://i49.tinypic.com/2mrfsw5.jpg - - http://i46.tinypic.com/mie3ja.jpg |

Re: '62 GMC Suburban "Rust"oration, Patina Build.....
Cool :metal:
Did you happen to measure the ID after you welded them to see if they shrunk any? That is something I have been wondering about when I do mine. Quote:

Re: '62 GMC Suburban "Rust"oration, Patina Build.....
I did not, but I did temporarily press in a BJ, and it went in perfect...with a nice "press fit".

Re: '62 GMC Suburban "Rust"oration, Patina Build.....
what is the point of the 88-98 lower balljoint?
|
Re: '62 GMC Suburban "Rust"oration, Patina Build.....
You have to use the '88-'98 lower ball joint if you are going to run the '88-'98 spindles and the factory style 6 lug rotors. Most guys that use these conversion parts, use a '67-'72 C20 lower control arm. But Chief wanted to use the '73-'87 control arms with the rubber bushings, so this is how to make that happen. I will be doing the same thing on my '66 Burb. The Chief just beat me to it.

I'm stoked they're going to a good home...any more progress on the burb?? Don't let the new shop take over ALL your time...;) |

The only new thing lately is the A-arms have been coated a satin chassis black. |
Re: '62 GMC Suburban "Rust"oration, Patina Build.....
Dude! I haven't been on the forum for quite a while. This is the first time I saw your build. Excited to see what you're doing with this thing. It might even be a little motivation for me. Hopefully we can get these burbs back together and on the road soon.

I dont have too much to report, other than I sandblasted and painted my spindles, oooooweeeee ! : - - http://i46.tinypic.com/34i4nc6.jpg - - And most Importantly, I finally had the extra $$ to have the pallet of Suburban seats shipped to me from OKC !!! I used "Uship" to get some quotes, and it was actually pretty reasonable !! Should see them within 5 business days, cant wait to get them. Rocktonka took the time to make sure they were well wrapped... :metal: |

- Well last week I contacted "U-ship" to get some bids going on shipment of the Burb seats I purchased from Rocktonka....
