Not sure yet, I like the bench seat, but I'm also thinking about building a center console out of mesquite as well.

Re: Mesquite 1966 C10 - LS3 W/Air Ride
Got the front of the motor installed, air conditioner compressor is tight, I will have to drill some holes in the rails to install the bottom two bolts, or remove the motor again.
I sure hope someone makes some short 90deg A/C line. http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...18Dec11001.jpghttp://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...18Dec11002.jpg http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...18Dec11003.jpghttp://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...18Dec11006.jpg |
Re: Mesquite 1966 C10 - LS3 W/Air Ride
I'm very surprised at how short the throw of this transmission is, cross member is temporary.

Re: Mesquite 1966 C10 - LS3 W/Air Ride
Yeah, the A/C mounting seems to be about the biggest issue with the LSx swaps. I haven't kept up on what guys are doing about it, since I am still working with Gen I engines. If you haven't been there yet, you might check out possible solutions in the LSx Swap section......

Re: Mesquite 1966 C10 - LS3 W/Air Ride
Wow.. That is so nice. You are gonna have a truck that is by far better then a new one you can buy at any dealership.. I know the planning that goes into this is extreme. Do you sleep at night?

Re: Mesquite 1966 C10 - LS3 W/Air Ride
Man Im glad you posted pictures of the Vette accessory belt system. I new it would clear..haha The truck setup that most people run is uber ugly. After owning a Nova with an LS2 and Vette accessories it looked like it would clear on these trucks. You just proved it..
Thanks again! |

Well the front rail has two new holes. Lower left hole is half way on the cross member bolt. To get the lower left bolt in it has to go in first and I had to shorten the treads by about 1/2".
Upper left bolt was replaced with a standard bolt, it's all tight now! http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...20Dec11022.jpg Starter is in. http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...20Dec11024.jpg |

Re: Mesquite 1966 C10 - LS3 W/Air Ride
BTW did you ask to have a double bellowed air bag in the bag? My understanding was thatn type of bag was used for hauling it's almost to much for the back end of our trucks, versus just a single sleeved bag that is much softer and really on handles the hieght of the vehicle.
Just curious |

Double convoluted bags work well in a truck arm application because the leverage is increased because they're located further forward of the rear end vs when the bag is mounted directly to the rear end housing. The dbl convoluted bag is the standard bag spec'd for these truck arm set-ups. |
Re: Mesquite 1966 C10 - LS3 W/Air Ride
Awesome, clean and well thought out work man!
Those CPP rear disk setups look well made. Any install issues? BTW what ever happened with that BOSS front wheel issue? I know alot of guys on here have talked about how the BOSS 338's have fitting issues with the larger 1 1/4" rotors and wont fit over the hub unless you have it machined down. For your engine I see that you used CPP perches...are those the motor mounts and adapter plates they sell as well? Kinda like a complete kit? What headers are you thinking of running? Keep up the great work and keep the pics coming! |

Well obviously scoti knows more than me. This is my first experience with bags, I've used air shocks before but not bags.
This kit it the Level 3 kit from ridetech, as listed on their website with no modifications. Quote:

Re: Mesquite 1966 C10 - LS3 W/Air Ride
Thanks custom, drivers side rear disc went on with no issues, I had to persuade the bracket on the passenger side a little. Outside pad was way too tight.
As for the BOSS problem, there is apparently two versions of this wheel out there. The first pic on left is the one that fits, the second does not. Notice the difference in the center bore and the cap mounts completely different as well. http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...x/IMG_0604.jpghttp://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...x/IMG_0605.jpg CCP mounts and perches work well and come as a kit. They do create header problems. I tried some BBK headers for a camaro but no luck (pic below) sanderson headers has one (shorty) that looks promising. Talked to Doug Thorley Headers they say they will have one in about 6 weeks? http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/...x/IMG_0609.jpg Quote:
