this is what i did last night and this morning
i pulled the brake booster off
i also put a new master cylinder on it
the brake booster didnt work and the firewall was hacked up so i made an aluminum panel that covers the brake booster holes
then i polished it
the first pic is before and the others are after

Good job on the ms/cyl. I was wondering if your fenders are solid without the inners installed?

jgh64pkup 06-12-2009 04:15 PM

Re: my 64

yeah theyre fine i wouldnt sit on them but good enough to hold the frontend up
i want some porterbuilt inners which consist of two mounts and a tube
i will need them because im thinking about fiberglass fenders

If you have one of those little portable sand blasters then that always gives it a nice "rough" finish that leaves future scratches somewhat hidden.

I agree....plus you don't want the pedals too slippery.....especially the brake pedal

Might be a good place to add some flares to those holes if you have a way to do that......flared up of course.

Re: my 64

I wouldnt bother polishing your pedal, unless you wear fuzzy slippers when you drive:lol:. I'm sure your shoes will unpolish it pretty fast.

Re: my 64

i have a sandblaster do you think that would look good
so any ideas on the brake pedal

Re: my 64

I am sure you have a little piece left over from what you made the pedals from, give it a shot and see if you like the look. Or do it on the back of the pedal that way if you dont like it none will see it.

jgh64pkup 06-21-2009 06:10 PM

Re: my 64

thanks but no i dont have any left that is the same size peice i found laying outside
my dad has to redo the way he mounted his swamp cooler(in the window with about a 30''x15'' peice of aluminum)
im going to use that aluminum to make a switch panel gauge cluster and brake pedal

Re: my 64

Hit that pedal w/a vibrating sander and a 220 grit pad and call it done.

thats actually what i did at first and didnt like
thanks though

ok the person that had this truck before obviously didnt know what they were doing and instead of recessing the dished in power steering box mount in the frame they just welded a chunk of another frame onto the original flat one
im changing over to manual steering but im going to go ahead and put the power steering mount on the frame just in case i change my mind later on
i still have to weld it in
i will get the welder back that i was using, tomorrow my neighbor loaned it to me (thanks Neil)
its a little hobart 140 MIG and works great
alright now for the pics
1st pic is before and the others are after
