Re: my 98' Streetrod build
Didn't think diameters....22's are out of my league. 20's? Maybe, but I'm really running Old Skool here and thinking smaller diameter. But, they wouldn't "look" like you want the overall theme to appear.

Re: my 98' Streetrod build
That thing is looking good!! I might have missed it but what kind of valve blocks are those?
And the paint color your thinking about with silver pinstripe would be very cool!! :metal: |
Re: my 98' Streetrod build
Thanks Scott,
I agree about the color. The valves are SMC billet blocks. The're pricey but since my crap is gonna be exposed,I wanted something more pleasing than the usual brass style plumbing. |
Re: my 98' Streetrod build
Yeah i dont blame you i would show it off too, Keep up the good work it looks awesome!! :metal:

Re: my 98' Streetrod build
Thanks Scott,Appreciate it.
I was fitting the core support today and notching and drilling it for the cooling system. Trying to figure out some inner fenders... http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...cture019-2.jpg http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...cture021-2.jpg http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...cture022-2.jpg http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...cture023-1.jpg http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...cture024-1.jpg http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d...Picture025.jpg |
Re: my 98' Streetrod build
I can see where those inner fenders will require some creative craftiness to accomplish. I guess that's why I see some w/o any, huh? Wouldn't be so bad if there was less drop on the travel, but then it wouldn't be what it is w/o that feature.
Lookin' good. |
Re: my 98' Streetrod build
Thanks,
Its been done with both bigger wheels and body drops, trick is to make it eye pleasing but simple. I carved up a trailer fender but not sure I like the look...thats what most guys use. |
Re: my 98' Streetrod build
I can see that action plus some more action from shrinker/stretcher, planishing hammer, bag and hammer, MIG, TIG, Y3....

Re: my 98' Streetrod build
From what you have done with the rest of the truck I'm sure you will come up with something. You may just have to start from scratch and bend some metal how you see fit for them.
|
Re: my 98' Streetrod build
wow!!!! just found this build and read it all....... wow!!!!!
|
Re: my 98' Streetrod build
I see a no no, Jegs and Summit in the same pic on your truck.
|
Re: my 98' Streetrod build
What about modifying some rear inner fenders in some way from the same body style of bed?

Re: my 98' Streetrod build
Troy, this thing is killer! Your ingenuity is awesome! (as is most of the guys who build anything on this site) Really dig the interior. The paint color/pinstripe/wheel combo will look great! Updates??? How's the inner fender coming?

Ive been working on this slanted frame inner.Plan to bend some aluminum sheet over it w/a 2" return on the inside edge. May not work out and have to ditch but Im likin it so far. http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d.../sixty8009.jpg http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d.../sixty8010.jpg http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d.../sixty8011.jpg http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d.../sixty8012.jpg http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d.../sixty8013.jpg http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/d.../sixty8014.jpg |
Re: my 98' Streetrod build
That 2-inch rolled edge would be neat with some beads rolled into it. Would give it some strength and also add some interest....kinda hot rod-ish.

to bad you are this far into the body mods. you could have shaved the upper body line. i did it on my 90 i built. you truck is going to be killer!! did you think of maybe doing a dash out of a 59 impalla or something? it is a popular thing with hot rodders. keep up the good work hope she drives as good as it looks!!

Re: my 98' Streetrod build
Troy, your work and your ideas are spot-on. I hope that the suggestions that we make aren't taken as criticism of your endeavours. You certainly have the upper hand. Truck looks killer!
