Re: 84 C10 Project
GOt the holes cut for the gauges and sunk the aluminum trim into the wood. The aluminum will be polished or powdercoated the same color as the wheels. There is going to be raised panels made next, on each side of the gauges. Kind of hard to explain, but will be able show you all soon.
Those won't be the actual gauges, they are just temporary. https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...46181134_n.jpg https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...90304285_n.jpg |

Re: 84 C10 Project
any new progress?
|
Re: 84 C10 Project
I should have new progress by end of next week. I have been swamped trying to start my new business, so the project has been pushed to the back burner temporarily.
Should be working on the dash and trying to finish that. |
Re: 84 C10 Project
it's probably been mentioned, but i can't find it, how wide are the 20s you're gettin? love the rear air ride set up! simple and functional

Re: 84 C10 Project
Thanks.
The rear tires are 315/35/20 Nitto NT05's, on a 20x10 wheel. |
Re: 84 C10 Project
Ok, so it has been a long time since I have made any sort of progress on the truck. Been focusing on Pro Performance.
I did however, get the chance to pick up some new Showwheel Streeters for the truck. Here are just a few photos of the tires mounted. I will take some more tomorrow of them on the truck. I also ordered some flat caps for a more old school hot rod look, which I am after. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-v...hoto%25201.JPG https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-E...hoto%25202.JPG https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-J...hoto%25203.JPG https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-J...76/images.jpeg |

Re: 84 C10 Project
Thank you..... I am hoping the truck will help promote the new company when it is done. Although we don't build trucks, it will show the parts we sell installed.

Re: 84 C10 Project
Here are some more I took today with them installed and an overall shot of how they look. My flat caps should be here tomorrow.

Re: 84 C10 Project
Haven't had a chance to work on the truck for quite some time, but finally made a little progress today.
I started the modifying of the rear bumper. I want to take the license plate pocket out and then also tuck the ends in about .5" per side. Mod the bumper brackets to tuck the bumper in close to the back of the truck and shave the bumper bolts. I will actually end up re-doing this, next weekend. After I did it, I realized if I cut a bigger section and change my top cut, it will come out better. Trial and error though... right? I really want to chrome the bumper, but I am no metal magician, so that might be out of the question. It will need some work to be perfect so that all imperfections don't show up in chrome. At this point, it is up in the air, but looks like I will paint it so that I can do light body work. Can you powdercoat over light bondo work? If so, then I will look at doing a powdercoat that gives it a brushed aluminum look. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-N...0/IMG_2286.jpg https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-P...0/IMG_2287.jpg https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-K...0/IMG_2289.jpg https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-a...0/IMG_2294.jpg https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-X...0/IMG_2295.jpg |
Re: 84 C10 Project
looks great i always wanted to do this..make me wana do it even more seeing it done

Re: 84 C10 Project
Looking good man. few questions. With the wheel and tire combo does it tuck in the rear fender or did you cut it out?? Front has no inner fender correct??
Oh and you should shave the tailgate handle to the inside then use a blazer or suburban tailgate trim panel. Would look good with the bumper like that |
Re: 84 C10 Project
Thanks guys... I think it so smooth in the back with the license pocket gone. I already have the flip kit for the handle. My plan was to fill the indent, but the blazer trim I might have to consider.
54Caddy, Yes, it tucks in the rear with stock rear fenderwells, and my bed is uncut and stock floored. No inner fender wells in the front. Travis |
Re: 84 C10 Project
have u thought bout doin the front bumper the same way?? an if u look at my build thread i got the blazer band on mine
|
Re: 84 C10 Project
The front bumper is next. It will just take a little more thought and measuring because of the peak in the middle.
I will check out your thread. I want to keep some of the classic elements to the truck, and the blazer band might work well for that. |
Re: 84 C10 Project
Blazer band would be perfrect! Thanks for info i contacted you on other site for price.
|
Re: 84 C10 Project
i was thinking bout the peak in the middle too...an the band looks stock but kinda custom look very simple
|
Re: 84 C10 Project
also how u plan on tucking the rear bumper in...do the front one too....when i bought my truck they had tucked it in looks badass....only truck i have seen wth the front bumper done
