Exhaust Plans:
Since I clocked my transfercase up, I dont have room to run the passenger side exhaust tucked up in the frame. I plan on running the PS down pipe to the DS under the transmission flywheel cover like a stock 2005 truck and use a dual 2.5" inlet to a single 3" outlet muffler for packaging into limited space. I was looking at Magnaflow and they had a sound clip of an Escalade has a similar setup, but with CATs. Cat Back PN 15837. The muffer closelt resembles thier part number 14588 (polished) or 12588 (satin). The Escalade had the same 6.0L so without the CATs in my truck it should be a little louder. This is the plan so far.. we'll see what happens... I already have a set of 2.5" satin stainless Dynotech Race Bullet Mufflers but I think they'll be too loud on the highway without carpet... |
Re: New to me 1972 K5
SO three months have passed... But not much progress on the Blazer. Got my harness and my tune done. Fuel tank mount was done, but the tank never got finish welded....
I have since accepted a job transfer to Dallas Texas... so with no time to work on the truck and no place to work on it when I move, I handed it over to a board member to finish the build. He restores cars and I've seen his work and its really nice.... He said he'll take pics as he completes the job.... http://www.classichotrod.net/ |
Re: New to me 1972 K5

Re: New to me 1972 K5
Update: Further behind on schedule. He couldn't sandblast the truck because we had almost 2 weeks of rain, on and off, here in "sunny" Nevada...
I broke down and ordered some Truck Lite LED headlights.... They should be here next week... I have LED tail lights and LED side markers.I want to add a LED light bar down the road too. None of this is cheap but I think it will be worth it in the long run... http://www.rubberduck4x4.com/store/p...70C-hr_lrg.jpg I also want to add a setup for some LED whip antennas.... There is an eBay seller that is local to me. I'll go check them out... I think they will look great off the back of the Blazer with the top off ... www.goodtimesproducts.com http://goodtimesproducts.com/img/p/1...0-thickbox.jpg http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/attac...06yyD_sJ_syYZg |
Re: New to me 1972 K5
I ordered a new American Autowire wiring harness... I have a new engine harness for the LQ9 swap and a new gauge harness for the Dakota Digital VHX setup. The factory harness was already pulled out for body work by Haskell's Rod and Custom...
Because of all the custom touches to the rest of the systems in the truck, I skipped the update harness and went with a builders series harness. Allen will fill the hole in the firewall and use a grommet to pass the engine harness through. He also setup the ECM to mount inside the cab as well... http://www.dreamershotrods.com/image...ail/510006.jpg |

You going to epoxy seal it before the Linex?

Re: New to me 1972 K5
I talked to the regional rep and they have a specific primer they use if they get bare metal... They are going to get a bare tub.. I get a done deal... white outside, black inside except with a white dash...

Looking good man!

Re: New to me 1972 K5
Dying to see those Line-X pics......Do they have sheen options like flat, satin, gloss? Did a search after reading your plans and I really like the look of some of the vehicles I've now seen with exteriors lined. Definitely makes the vehicle look tough!

Have you ran across this blazer while doing your planning.....found it while searching for a "family roll cage". Can't tell 100% if the exterior is lined but the dash is in white.
