put some 6an fitting on the mustang 2 pump and a trip to the hydraulic shop. i here you need to put a pressure reducer on the chevy power steering pump because fords dont have as much pressure as the chevys. some say if you dont run the reducer it will over steer.but i'm not sure

now its getting exciting. there is a light at the end of the tunnel.i think i am going to actually be driving this by the end of july.i painted the steering column today. then i went to mock up the radiator and i didnt have enough room for a manual clutch fan.the superior radiator pre welded brackets fit terrible.so i took it to the radiator shop to get the brackets cut and rewelded. then get an aluminium shroud made and a hole cut for an electic fan.

Re: slamburban
great progress!

Re: slamburban
I didnt regulate my pump at first and had superman power steering and blew up a rack. so I reduced the pressure and now I have a real good feel to my steering and the current rack is doing well.
|
Re: slamburban
where do you get a pressure regulator for the power steering. do you install it in the pump or does it go in the fitting in the line
|
Re: slamburban
I got the one that had the washers you install in the pump.

i orded the washer kit from borgenson to reduce the pressure in the power steering. now i have to take the half the serpentine bracket system off to remove the pump from the suburban. so putting the rest of the front end together will have to wait till next week. i got the radiator back for the shop. fits really good and they did a nice job on the fan shroud.

got the front bumper, bumper filler and headlight buckets in. also got the wiper motor and linkage in. tomorrow the hood ,fog lights and steering column go in and i start figuring out where to install the switches in the dash. then hopefully by the end of the week the plywood floor will be in and the back inner fender will get tacked on. also figured out why the brakes wouldnt bleed.sometimes it the simpliest thing. the calipers where on the wrong sides.so the bleeder where on the bottom instead of on the top. i dont know which is worse. taking 6 hours to unsuccessfully try to bleed the brakes or having a motorcycle guy walk up and instantly tell you whats wrong.
