clemdaddy, any idea what you plan to do with bed wood yet? Factory black would be perfectamundo!!!

i'm with you on the bed wood. just ordered from mar-k, good old pine bed kit. will paint the wood satin black with stainless runners and bolts.

last bed i did on a gold truck was flat black wood and gloss black strips but stainless bolts... and it looked good. just want this one a little different...

Re: razorback red... buildup

naw... no pics. hopefully by sunday there will be some, but much to do till then.
the bed and wheel tubs and tailgate and those little valance panels should all be ready for the second round of paint early sunday morning.

have assembled the grill so that will be hung along with the front bumper this weekend too.

still have one seriously bad steering wheel to do so maybe in the evening hours when it cools down to 103 i can get after that.

thanks for checking in... gonna to be busy this weekend.

hot weather, old trucks and cold beer, what could be better?

sigshooter 08-03-2012 07:54 AM

Re: razorback red... buildup

what kind of steering wheel are you putting on it?

this morning at 5 i went out to paint the hood and wheel tubs. got to go slow in this heat. but everything turned out smooth and other that the besky bugs looking for light that early and dying in the paint... i'm ok with it.

august has been the coolist month this summer. weather wise that is. weird that it was a hundred and something for 3 months and then you think august will be like hell but instead its in the 80s and raining some. thank you, thank you... i love weird.

as far as razorback red goes, color sanding and assembly has been the thing. using the bed lining spray on the wheeltubs and underside of the hood.

this morning some buddies came over and helped lift and place the bed. it took four guys, 15 minutes and a 12 pak... it was hard work but we got it done.

the last pic is the boards. my girl kim painted them. lots of coats of satin black oil base with sanding in between. they look great. with the polished strips and bolts it should be a good look.

tomorrow the boards will meet the bed. hopefully.
