Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
Because of where we have them positioned in the 4 link I actually get about 8 inches of travel. As far as having them angled who knows about how they would wear down. I've seen them set up angled and straight so in not sure what effects having them angled will have. I guess I will find out. Lol.

Angle does matter though - at a true straight up and down position you get 100% of the designed shock usage. as the angle changes you get less. If you think of 90* as straight up, then at 80* you lose about 10%, and at 70* you can lose up to 25% of the shocks intended overall spring rate. |
Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
I see what you're saying. The pic I have posted with the side view of the truck with the wheels is sitting right at ride height. It will go down about 3 inches from there and that will be my lowest point. My highest point is almost 3 inches up from where the pic is showing.

I finally got some pics with the air bags fully deflated. This gives me a good idea where it will sit when it's completely laid out. The front crossmember will be maybe an inch or two off the ground. Next were starting to run all of the brake lines fuel lines and air lines. Also going to start on raising the bed floor and designing the layout of the interior.

We got the bucket seats cut down where we want them. We made some custom brackets for them so we can bolt them down from under the cab.

We also started setting up the air bag tank and compressors. This should fit perfect under the bed floor.

Thanks for the updates too. |
Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
Thanks for the comments. We are trying really hard to get it setup by mid November so we can tear it down and get some paint on it.

Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
Nice job on cutting the seats down. I like how they sit below the window. That is a pet peeve of mine to see headrests sticking up past the rear window in these trucks. Your truck is looking killer BTW....

Re: 1956 Chevy 3100 Corvette Suspension
I can't stand the seats showing in the window either. I cut them down as low as I could but still comfortable. You might see about an inch of the top once the interior is done but it won't be much. My goal was to not see the seat at all.

We also changed the mounting brackets for the rear cross sill. The factory ones didn't look good. The ones we made will blend perfectly.

We also smoothed the top of the back wall inside the cab. It should look really nice with some paint on it.
