Vic you are exactly correct... that is what is going on here... unfortunately I don't have the original bedsides to draw from along with the welding skills to accomplish that... LOL |
Re: Project "Class Act"
Bummer about the bed problems. Hope you get it worked out. I will keep an eye out for some GM tubs for you.

Re: Project "Class Act"
Ok... I have determined that the Counterpart wheel tubs will not fit... thanks to Cash3481 I have a set of useable tubs for a reasonable amount.. these are going to take alot of work to make them nice enough they at least fit the Dynacorn bedsides and floor...

Re: Project "Class Act"
The torch is your friend on wheel tubs. Get the dent red, flat hammer on flat dolly, pretty close. Them thangs are thick!
|
Re: Project "Class Act"
Yeah it is going to be a weekend of banging and cussing... LOL
|
Re: Project "Class Act"
Well I started on the wheel tubs today... got some of the rust wire brushed... and sprayed with rust neutralizer... My patience today is real low so I just stopped...

Re: Project "Class Act"
Well... I am pretty much in a holding pattern until Chris decides to do some work on my truck...
|
Re: Project "Class Act"
I went by the body shop today... they have done about 2-3 hours worth of work this week to the truck... The cab corner was dollied out and skim coated and they were starting to weld the roof to back of cab seam up so to not that the open seam showing... Hopefully next week more will get done... We have changed from doing the frame in Silver to painting it body color...
|
Re: Project "Class Act"
I had the same overload springs on mine. I through them away. Extra weight and I did not like them. I want to hauling anything that requires them.

I went by Chris Carlson's Hot Rods earlier this week... They have been working on the truck a little... What they have done is Really great work.. I have had them weld the cab roof to Back Cab Panel seam to give it a smooth look... I have always thought that is the way these should have been done at the factory... Chris and I decided that the "bowtie" that separated the Grille openings needed to go away so they reworked that to eliminate it... That was where they were at when I saw in on Monday...
I am trying to decide if I want to leave the "CHEVROLET" letters on the hood or not... I am going with a Hot Rod look but I am definitely keeping the "Custom Camper" emblems on the fenders... so what do you all think about the hood letters... I may try to sneak over there today if he is going to be in the shop working on the SEMA Mustang... We will see if they will be there... Here are a couple of pics just to show you this... |
Re: Project "Class Act"
If you are eliminating the emblem then it makes sense to eliminate the lettering also.
This is just an opinion but it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to put the custom camper emblems on a short bed truck. I know there is some sentimental value associated with the badge but instead maybe you could pinstripe his name on the glove box door or something. |
Re: Project "Class Act"
The emblem is to just mess with people... LOL
|
Re: Project "Class Act"
I got a little done this weekend... I got the Dash Bezel and Glove Box door repaired and refinished... I decided to go with a brighter silver that what is stock just to make it pop a little more...
Now it is time to send it off to TBONE1964 (Tom) to have him do his thing on it... putting in the Tach and New Tins... Before: http://images20.fotki.com/v681/photo...xBefore-vi.jpg After: http://images53.fotki.com/v107/photo...edDash1-vi.jpg http://images15.fotki.com/v588/photo...oxDoor1-vi.jpg |
