Re: Picked Up A Hitch Hiker Today
I just explained to my brother if I had a crew cab I would have too many kids, That truck is sexy! I wouldn't be able to control my lust and keep my hands off my wife with that beautiful beast around.

My curiosity got the best of me and I went ahead and had some shirts made from an EBay vendor from Brazil. They had a 100% positive feedback and will customize them to your liking. I made about 6 changes before I was satisfied and they accommodated my changes with out any hassle.

Re: Picked Up A Hitch Hiker Today
I wonder if your short-long bed had been pulled off and stored inside for a while, and the crew-cab toted a flat bed or utility bed? It is way less faded than the cab and front end.
Why did you take off the cantilever leaf overload springs ??? I had those on my 1965 C-10 and they worked great, much to my amazement. Nice ride empty and then it steadied out when you put some load on it. That short bed with coil springs and four speed manual would go almost anywhere with just 2wd. :) |

Re: Picked Up A Hitch Hiker Today
Picked up another hitch hiker today and brought her home. She is a 1966 C20 with a 283 engine, 4 speed transmission, power steering and a factory A/C. Eventually I will transplant the dash and all the A/C components into the 66 Crew thus removing the under dash A/C and saving for another project.

(except I more or less need a 4wd which is why the 1976 sits around most of the time) |

It is in pretty decent shape. I hate to pull the dash out and ruin the cab but that is what I bought it for. The dash in the Crew Cab is in Ok shape but the original owner was drill happy and installed all kinds of switches, indicator lights and a pyrometer. I can't wait until November to check out Dino's Crew Cab at his show. He had an original steel headliner installed replacing the card board headliner that these Crew Cabs came with. He said it took three cabs to complete this headliner install. I may do the same if I like it. This cab will be a good candidate for part of the headliner. I know this will make a lot of people cringe destroying that many cabs. Quote:

Re: Picked Up A Hitch Hiker Today
Bought some NOS Bling for the 66 Crew. I hope it is worth extra the money spent due to a lot of horror stories about the fit from members that have bought aftermarket fenders. There are several threads about aftermarket fenders and still no straight answer on who sells the best or which brand is the best. I am sure they are all made in China but don't know if they are all made by the same company or several different ones.

Pretty bling-bling!

Re: Picked Up A Hitch Hiker Today
What brand are those fenders and where did you get them? Just curious about the genuine GM packaging. The reproduction stuff I got looked fine just not 16ga steel. It all would probably be better if the steel was just a bit thicker hahah

This Crew Cab is in excellent shape compared to what some other members have started with or the rare few that you see for sale every now and then on EBay, Craigslist etc. I give a lot of credit to anyone who has the drive and ability to fix the rust and damage that these Crew Cabs have from all the years of use and abuse. |
Re: Picked Up A Hitch Hiker Today
It has been almost two years since I posted anything on the 66 Crew. Been busy with work and life in general. Added the custom cab horn ring assembly and have cleaned up some of the wiring. Here is a short video I posted on YouTube, Enjoy!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HeHLTTaZ7BE
