Nice choice on the gauges. I'm looking at the same brand for my '47. How are you mounting yours? Did you buy some Basel adapter rings or will you modify your own?
Thanks, Rob |
Re: Cecil the 1953 5 window / S-10 / 5.7 TPI
I'm going a different route with this one. It's going to get taken apart and made to look like the original speedo.

Re: Cecil the 1953 5 window / S-10 / 5.7 TPI
Nope. I would suspect a collapsed spring. Unless a tire is low or they are mis-matched. Measure from the lower shock mount to the ground on each side. If the measurement is the same, it's your springs. If the measurement is much different then it is your tires.

"This is Cecil's fuel sender. I'll be installing an aftermarket 0-30 ohm sender to br compatable with the stock fuel gauge. The new in tank pump is all set up, tomorrow the sender goes back in, and the bed goes on for the last time." |

Here's the finished fuel sender. I heat shrink and routed the wires through the old evaporation line, then sealed the end with heat shrink. |

Cecil's speedo arrived from speedhut the other day, so of course my first step was to tear it apart. I think it will work out nicely in the stock gauge cluster |
Re: Cecil the 1953 5 window / S-10 / 5.7 TPI
looks good sarge. here is a write up on the lean issue. not to deter from this thread but my daily s10 leans, this guys old set up prolly does lean, starting fresh should help iron it all out. http://www.s10planet.com/forum/archi...php/t-230.html
the gauge is looking great. Iv been hoping for a cheaper alt like this for years. been meaning to find a gauge to do the proper period looking conversion. this is prolly as close as its gonna get. I planned on making my own inserts, maybe add a bit of a different color to them, but I like how you used the actual insert too. Are you making a new hole in it for the High beam or just routing a light indicator elsewhere? |

sarge, here is what I worked on a while ago for the new insert. I have the numbers from the stock gauge that I can move around to be spot on with that gauges numbers. You can see here how they line up, the stock AD gauge is close but this gets its spot on. Obviously the final product would look just like the stock insert, just with shifted numbers and the digital trip meter would show through like yours.

Re: Cecil the 1953 5 window / S-10 / 5.7 TPI
Thanks 99. I'm going to let my graphics shop make the decal for me, that way i can keep them in stock. I've given them the new decals, and a template for the marks on the speedhut gauge.

Finished drivers floor. Passenger side was a little more rusty than I had originally thought. Once I scraped off all the under-coating, I found a screwed in piece of sheet metal... installed over the pre-existing rust of course. The patch panel is all made and fitted. Tomorrow I'll weld it in. |
