Re: SANFORD build thread
Just finished your thread, your fab skills are something else. Great build, take care of that back, I know from experience.

Re: SANFORD build thread
I just found this thread....Love to see more..great looking truck..I just got a set of those same 285-70-15 TA's for the rear of my 1966 but i have not tried them on the truck yet. you think they will clear bagged with 15x8 steelie rimes without widening the wheel wells?...
|
Re: SANFORD build thread
Not much going on with the truck, bed is at paint shop. I'm not sure on the tires rubbing, it will probably depend on wheel offset and how low u go.

Re: SANFORD build thread
lots of really nice work going on here!!!

Re: SANFORD build thread
you sir are a craftsman... congrats nailed it
|
Re: SANFORD build thread
Thanks Dino. Hopefully getting the bed back from paint Fri. I was promised the rest of it by Christmas. We will see.

Re: SANFORD build thread
that will be a great christmas present...
how did the surgery go? is your back better? sometimes it takes a while to get back on your feet, but you seemed to be back pretty fast... |
Re: SANFORD build thread
Thanks Clem. Yes the surgery went good had to take things a little slow but I am good now. I haven't posted much cause there hadn't been anything to show but hopefully Friday will go as planned.

Thanks guys. It has been a long time coming. Flips72 I chose victory red because of how well yours looked. The truck was originally red so I wanted to keep it somewhat factory. Painter told me the first of Nov. on the cab and doors and Christmas on the rest so I am hopeful by next spring I will have it on the road.

Been a while since I updated. Truck ended up in paint jail so I went and got it in March. The guy did a good job on they bed but would not work on the rest of it so I put up a make shift booth in my shop and painted it myself. I'm going to do the hood and fenders this weekend. I hope to have it pretty close to being finished by the end of the year. [quote][attach]1560173

Re: SANFORD build thread
Glad you got it back and glad you can finish the job yourself. Why didn't the shop finish what they started?
|
Re: SANFORD build thread
Wow, that looks great, I think maybe you should have been painting it yourself to start with from the looks of it.
|
Re: SANFORD build thread
Not a red person but that red is right on the money. Great looking truck.
|
Re: SANFORD build thread
Thanks guys for the comments. DKO I don't know why he would not finish it,especially since I took it there with a lot of work completed on it. I realize there is not a lot of money to be made when painting an old car due to labor cost but if your paying 10 or 15 thousand dollars for a paint job u would think it would be easy to find a good shop. Maybe it is me I don't know. Flips72 man this thing has been a project. I told folks if I didn't die and kept my health I was going to finish so maybe I'll run into u in PF in the spring.aerotruk flips 72 is the reason my truck is this color.

Re: SANFORD build thread
Wow, that self paint looks mighty fine. i had a similar experience that drove me to start doing my own paint jobs and have never looked back. besides, who do you have to please but yourself.
good work man! |
Re: SANFORD build thread
Thanks Clem. Problem is I am probably a little too peculiar if u know what I mean. I want things like I want them. Anyway looking foward to getting this thing finished. After paint it's nuts and bolts so no worries there. Next thing will be getting someone to do seat and carpet.

Re: SANFORD build thread
Paint is looking good. I can't wait to see it all together!

Love the way the engine bay looks!
Did you eliminate the indent where the stock battery location is? |
Re: SANFORD build thread
Yes Aggie I eliminated it but continued with the valley so it doesn't look weird
