Re: Gas Prices - Part 2
Well gas in my hometown is 2.32 but a town away in Greeley there are still a few places to find gas at 1.99. That is why I think fuel companies are full of poop with the prices. Why are prices cheaper at the same exact 7-11 thirty miles away compared to my town or even higher at other stations. Nothing but pure greed if you ask me

Re: Gas Prices - Part 2
gas here jumped 20 cents to $3.19

Coincidence there is an upcoming election and Russia just banned the export of petrol for six months?
U.S. Northeast Gasoline Reserve Could Be Sold Off The U.S. could sell off its 1-million-barrel Northeast Gasoline Supply Reserve in the fiscal year of 2024, a funding bill up for discussion at U.S. Congress says. Under the draft text of the bill, “the Secretary of Energy shall draw down and sell one million barrels of refined petroleum product from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve during fiscal year 2024.” “Upon the completion of such sale, the Secretary shall carry out the closure of the Northeast Gasoline Supply Reserve,” says the bill. Re: Gas Prices - Part 2
Well we have risen $0.50 per gallon since I posted last when it was $2.69 per. Now at $3.19 for 87 octane corn squeezins. I'm pretty sure this is just short stop before heading further upward. Bound to help out our national economy I'm sure! (Heavy sarcasm meant there!)

Re: Gas Prices - Part 2
And 15% gasohol will likely be allowed this summer with waiver renewal then allowed permanently:
Exclusive: Biden administration to approve E15 gasoline expansion starting in 2025, sources say “U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said at a conference on Tuesday he was confident that expanded sales of E15 would be available across the country in 2025 and that, until then, the administration would likely issue temporary waivers this summer to enable sales.” HERE: https://www.reuters.com/world/us/bid...ay-2024-02-20/ |

Re: Gas Prices - Part 2
We used to see on our pumps "up to 10% ethanol added" to our 87 and 89 grade gas. Our 91 was ethanol free. Well that has changed. I recently bought some 91 for my small engines and saw that disclosure on all 3 grades now. I'll have to pay attention to other pumps around town to see if they are doing the same.
Oh and our prices are doing the yoyo right now. Up a nickel, down two, up seven, up ten. All over a couple of weeks. I just try to keep enough gas in my trucks to allow me to drive right through those pricing peaks and maybe average on the lower side. ;) |

Re: Gas Prices - Part 2
We're running about 2.77 gallon for regular. The efree stuff is about 3.40 gal for 87 grade. I'm afraid to look at the premium grade price. Of course those could change by the time I get out today.
|
Re: Gas Prices - Part 2
And today those who were at $2.82 on Tuesday are now at $2.99 overnight. I tell you what! It jus don't make sense.
|
Re: Gas Prices - Part 2
We've gone up 80 cents a gallon in the past couple of weeks. We're over 5.00 a gallon once again. Nobody can tell me why yet
|
Re: Gas Prices - Part 2
Filled th 70 yeaterday afternoon and the efree 87 was 3:05 a gallon. Down road the ethanol stuff was 2.67.

I had a conversation yesterday with my roofing/siding guy. We were talking about how the price of vinyl siding is affected by the price of oil. He mentioned constantly getting letters over the years about rising cost of siding due to rising costs of oil. We bought thought it was "funny" how when the cost of a barrel of oil (dictated by oil futures) dropped the cost of siding never did. That is above all else, GREED!!!!!! |

Why gas is so expensive in California
"Several factors go into what drivers pay for gas, including refining costs, taxes, distribution and marketing, and crude oil prices, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration." More to the story HERE |

Re: Gas Prices - Part 2
gov regulation is not really the problem, we are.
as my oil executive client told me, were petro junkies and they have us hooked thru the bag and they know it. and we are petro junkies- no ands, if's or butts. we will pay to fill our trucks at whatever price and then grumble about it, but still fill 'em. our taxes and regs are fairly consistant, a tax raise does not go on our fuel without the gov informing us well ahead of time yet the price of fuel "mysteriously" goes up every weekend or stat holidays. i'm sure everyone is aware of the incredible profits the oil companies are making right now, and i'm all for free market and competition, but the only competition i really see is how much more the oil companies can get out of their customers than the real gas wars of the '60's and '70's like really, just how much profit do you really need when people are having a hard time filling up their vehicle or heating their house? not to mention the cascade effect on groceries and just about anything shipped to your house or a store. https://www.statista.com/chart/27887...fits-increase/ https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calga...recent%20years |
Re: Gas Prices - Part 2
I agree with you that we know it (taxes, regs, profits) and we just keep filling her up! So true.

Re: Gas Prices - Part 2
What choice do we have ? Either we fill our trucks ,walk or buy electric . I’m retired so I use very little fuel on a weekly basis my sons both work about 5 miles from home as do their wife’s . My SIL about 25 my daughter on the other hand drives about 80 miles a day but she gets gas and mileage expenses every month
Gas went up 15 cents in a week here . |
Re: Gas Prices - Part 2
We had another bump a couple days ago, now at $5.30 for 87.
|
Re: Gas Prices - Part 2
Well spring break week is no doubt the reason for this recent spike in prices the same as around any holiday where the public is likely to be traveling.
Ours just jumped from $2.89 to $3.05. News stations in Arkansas are warning folks to top off their tanks before the big solar eclipse gets here. Arkansas being in the best viewing area they are predicting lots of folks coming for the event and hotel rooms and gas becoming possibly in short supply. So you know prices will soar at that time too. |
Re: Gas Prices - Part 2
Average at $3.11 here in my area.
|
Re: Gas Prices - Part 2
i just went to the store for a couple things and looked at gas prices at 2 different stations- over 5 bucks for the cheap $hit:waah:
|
Re: Gas Prices - Part 2
I paid 3.49 for premium and bought 5 gallons. I live 15 miles from work. I make my trips count and call it good. I get 15mpg in a 04 Yukon so I do not drag main too much. feeding a horse and riding that to town would probably make gas prices seem priced right. one store charges 3.99 for same gas, they have not discussed price fixing yet is my guess. ha
