Re: I am from the Desert
Very nice. I'll bet the paint fiasco was a little frustrating to say the least.

back to the bed .... evidently my paint shop mis handled the new repop bed sides were bowed so in order to make sure they were marked and drilled properly well ....is what I had to do

drilled the side boards and then installed the cross sills.... got to keep measuring to make sure its square ...this was some chore without any help (5 hours ) but gotter-done:devil::waah:next I will see how it lines up on the frame and mark the holes to drill the 8 bolts that hold it on the frame....maybe tomorrow but ill need some help........:metal:

job, weather, holidays, grandkids all getting more attention and then when I do get at it lots of redundancy ...big word for me :) but explains what it is.... put the boards and strips back in and all the bolts make sure everything lines up measured again to see if it remained square.....marked on the boards 8 mounting positions on the cross sills for drilling from underneath then took all boards etc. off again finally ill ask some friends come buy before the weeks end and we will put it on the truck put all the boards etc back and locate the fuel fill tube and mark for drilling hopefully it ends up centered in the board ...tiring but worth it in the end will bring this phase closer to complete

Re: I am from the Desert
It's been a while since I've checked in. Looks like you are still making some great progress, despite any obstacles in the way! I'm looking forward to seeing a full shot of this truck once it all comes together.

Did you have to elongate the holes in the front panel of the bed to get the top of it to line up with the bedsides? Mine looks to be about 1/4" too high.

I bought a entire repop bed and lucky for me mine lined up almost perfect It would have been a shame to have to elongate them and then try to conceal that mess with the 2 at the top are threaded in and then the additional down each side( I used stainless pan/hex head bolts seen in the pic). I did put it all together for fitment purposes before I sent it for paint Im going to dig out some pics of my original bed was OEM and see if that one looked like yours regards Jess PS I taped them up on the outside of the head board (what you see blue and white tap) so as not to scratch the cab. I have to remove it one more time before perm install |

Re: I am from the Desert
today a couple friends came over and we stood the bed up on the head board ...going to be much easier getting all them nut bolts and washers attached to the boards and cross sills

Re: I am from the Desert
I asked Nicklear in his thread, but I noticed you have the oil fill tube. Where did you get the intake for it? Was it new or used? Also, what about pcv?
Thanks, Rg |
